Buddy has one with 120 or so shots through it. I was with him when he bought it new. His interests have changed. Harris bipod with two piece bases and rings. Choate stock with spacers. Wants my Webley Stingray .22 pellet rifle (scoped) and cash boot (amt to be determined). Any experience with this rifle? WOuld be neat with a Leupold 4-12 Rifleman scope. Thanks.

His offer is the rifle, the Harris bipod, rings and bases and about 200 rounds of Indian late surplus .308 ammo for $475. Is the Accutrigger model. Thoughts?

I paid $459 for just the rifle a couple months ago, sounds like you're getting a good deal - I'D snap it up.

Great rifle, you'll love it - a real tack driver. I get 1 MOA 3-shot groups at 100 yrds using a Harris bipod on a bench consistently. Haven't really tried it past that except on 12" steel plates at 200 and 300 yards, and they clang every time :D

Thanks to you all. This is a friend I worked with and although i think i could talk to him and get the price down to $450, I will instead just meet his asking price. His friendship is worth more than any savings to me.

Called him a bit ago to accept his offer. He'll be giving me the rifle box and even the bag the bipod came in.

Nobody's mentioned this, so I will.

Indian surplus is as 'bottom of the barrel' as you could find. Don't shoot it through that fine rifle. Throw it out. Feed your Savage the good stuff--Black Hills or FGM for target work, but at least stay with good brand-name ammo. If you gotta go milsurp, stay with the quality versions--Hertenberger (if you can find it), Radway, Port, or Aussie.

Would 120 rounds of the indian stuff have damaged the bore do you think? Mercy I hope not. Man I hope it isn't corrosive or copper washed only. Having read your post, I WILL dump it. I do have 640 rounds of the Australian surplus by Australian Defence Industries. What about that ammo? Supposed to be copper clad lead 1980's and 90's manufacture. Even thought about getting more while on sale this month.

LE2A

This is by far the best rifle i've ever owned. Out of the box it was grouping tight enough i thought i was pushing the rounds off paper. This was done with cheap off the shelf ammo. Just thing what it would do with handloaded 168gr BTHP 's . The problem i had was trying to find bases to fit the reciever. Problem was i was looking on the shelf and not at sniper country where i bought the rifle. Enjoy the weapon. I ditched my girl for it lol.
Apache Six Romeo OUT

GET MORE SCOPE............

Just went thru barrel break-in on my 10FP-LE2A in 223-------has a Bushnell4200-6x24-40 w/ Mildot scope!!
Out of da box(boresighted at the shop) was 1" low and to the right w/ 55gr FMJ's (Fed AE) but grouping in a tight cloverleaf at 50 yds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will leave sighting-in/zeroing to my next session out to 100 yds.

I may switch to some Georgia Arms 68gr BTHP for that task!!
