I've set my eyes on this rifle.....
handled one in .270 at the gun shop and was impressed by the fit and finnish.
can pick it up NIB for $540 + $15 S&H + $10ffl = $565
I know Savage and Stevens bolt action rifles get great reviews as the best deal economy rifle out there....
but I have my heart set on Walnut and Blue.
Should the wood stocked Savage bolt guns hold the same accuracy as the poly stock ones?
I'm not really up on all the bedding terms....
I get the jist behind "free floating" but am not sure what they mean by the "dual pillar bedding" they talk about with their poly furniture varients.
My purpose for this rifle is mainly to punch holes in paper at 200-300 yds and to have fun working up accurate loads.
I don't want a bull barrel and am likely not going to shoot at ultra long ranges.
No super sniper here, just looking for an all purpose accurate and ascetically pleasing bolt action rifle.
Any body out their shooting wood stocked Savage bolts?
