I'm new to shooting, and up until now have only shot borrowed rifles. I'm looking into buying a 30-06. What is the difference between a single stage trigger and an Accutrigger? Is it worth paying extra for? What is the trigger weight of a savage 111fcxp3 with a single stage trigger? Thanks for your help...wanna make sure I make a decision I won't regret

I second the accutrigger. I had it on my MkII and it was hands down the best trigger I've ever had the pleasure to pull.

The AccuTrigger looks to change all that, by giving the customer an infinitely adjustable trigger with a weight of pull between 1.5 and 6 pounds, capable of being adjusted by the owner, with no creep, and no danger of accidental discharge even at the lightest setting! This is unprecedented, unheard of, and extremely cool -- and we have Savage to thank.

Here's a 3rd for the accutrigger. Its hands down the best thing savage has put out. The model 12 series adjusts from 3lbs to 1 1/2.

I've only shot a couple of .22's with the Accutrigger. But what's NOT to like about a trigger that allows you to adjust the pull weight to your own desires? And the nice thing is that you can set it to almost silly sensitive but the "Accu" safety prevents the trigger being shocked into firing thanks to the safety blade. And with a truly match sensitive trigger the safety blade gives you notice that your finger is about to contact the trigger itself before you might accidentally stroke it just a "little" too hard.

All around I'd say it's the finest idea since the invention of peanut butter.... :D

The Accutrigger on my 114 is far better than the Xmark on my 700 REM so yes get the Accutrigger definately.
Good shootin

For some of the better savage rifles in general you have no choice but to get it. Is it better than the basic trigger ,yes. And for someone new to shooting it will be greatly apreciated. It does have a bit of creep and does have limites but its a good factory trigger. With time if you find you want a better trigger assembly you can allways upgrade to the aftermarket .

I have 3 accutrigger rifles, best out of the box trigger I've owned fact is they spoil one from other rifles.

Thanks everybody. Sounds like the Accutrigger isn't something I'd regret. Acelaw, from what I've seen the similar models with an accutrigger are about $100-150 more, starting around $500 if you're buying new.

Walmart sells the Model 10's or 110's for long action calibers for right under $400 with a cheap scope on top, and this model has the accu trigger. IMO at this price this is the way to go. It's a great factory trigger.

Personally I hate the asthetics of the accutrigger and have one on my M10 MLII which is going to be replaced after this season. I just can't get used to the feel of pulling in on the "saftey" part. But it is a great trigger, just not my cup o' tea, and I would let a trigger be the selling point of a hunting bolt action rifle with so many great aftermarket triggers out there. I would pick a great rifle that is accurate, pleasing to the eye and will last a long time-the best I can afford...Savage rifles only have two of those qualities. I think they are ugly, (but they do shoot good, as good as any other off the rack rifle) but to each his own.

Have to say, I like the accutrigger. Have since it's conception. I have rifles with Timney, Jewell, and a few other higher end custom triggers and have to admit, I like the break and travel of the accutrigger dern near as much. Hard to beat it for a hunting trigger and in all reality, I can probably handle it just as well at the bench at 1000yds as my big dollar customs. It's all in whatever floats your boat. If it feels good to the shooter and you shoot well with it, that is ALL that matters in the end. Hell I kind of like it when some Joe Shmo comes up and says things like "Well that setup won't shoot worth a damn" then I turn around and clover-leaf at 300 and just smile :)

Point is, don't waste your time with the hype, go for what feels good to YOU since it is YOUR finger on the trigger.
