Yes, They are sweet. I have a basic Savage MKII F 22lr (walmart special), a Savage MKII BV (accutrigger heavy barrel and Boyds laminated stock). The TR is on my "to get" list but technically won't do anything more or better than the BV can. I just like it.
I shot a bolt action 10 round 22 savage with a wood stock, accu trigger and a long heavy barrel on it besides a scope. It was decent accuracy for a stock rifle but it had problems ejecting the spent round. It was a used gun I rented at a gun range/gun shop. They had a modded ruger scoped 10/22 there to used and that was actually a little more accurate than the stock savage. This ruger had a heavy 18 inch barrel a custom stock a scope and maybe internal mods. I don't know.

tacticool fake mcmillan stock, tacticool bolt handle, tacticool fluted barrel... hm.
not worth the money in my opinion. i love my 93R17 GV to death. it has a normal shaped wood stock, the barrel is the same thickness but i guess it weighs a few ounces more without those cool flutes, and it was $200 less.

I think it might be morre accurate with them extras. They have a short action version to I seen that comes with a scope mount already. It's a bit higher though. Plus the stock is synthetic and not wood on that model. They also make them in 17hmr. 17hmrs are to much money for ammo. I liked 22s better.

I'll post a brief review when my 93R17-TR arrives (should be sometime next week). A thorough range review will have to wait on Midway to get the EGW 20MOA mount that I want to use in stock (I'd go ahead and mount the scope, but I haven't a spare set of good rings, and don't want to place more than one order).

Don't know how much "better" it is (looks to me like they mostly just piled on more unnecessary and prickly P-rails), but they recently came out with a new model (for both .22LR and .17HMR) called the TRR-SR; which is pretty much the same as above, but includes a threaded bbl (and IIRC they shortened the .22LR bbl).

all i can say is 3/4 inch groups at 50 yrds. Savage MKII with a 4x 40 scope. short easy to run action it rocks.

Great rifles and far more accurate than they have a right to be. The Boyd's Tacticool stock is very comfortable and well laid out. Got one on a 10/22 and like it very much. The oversized bolt handle is a nice detail and a modification I had planned for my own MKII.
Did you try EGW directly? I ordered my 20MOA rail from them before Midway started carrying them. It's a nice base.
Obviously, if those added features do not appeal to you, you should not buy one. I would certainly take a $250 (best price in my area) GV model with its plain birch stock, then turn around and put it in a Boyd's tacticool stock $90. Then I'd put a picatinny rail on it for $35. Then I'd spend two solid days installing an oversized bolt handle and have about $400 and two days labor into it and still not have a matte finish. Or just buy a TR model.
Love mine. I have a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42mm mildot scope on it and use it as a trainer for my long range precision rifles. Having the same style stock, scope, etc. gives it a very similar feel (other than recoil). Mine will shoot 5 shot groups into 1 inch at 100 yards on an indoor rifle range when shooting off the bipod and a rear sand bag using match ammo.

Wow! G27RR. Bullet holes are really that big on a 22 at 100 yards? That doesn't look right. I just bought a old czech mauser for target shooting but it shoots way high. I heard it's because the sights are for 300 meters or farther. I hope to get new sights on it. Like a peep sight set up. And then a shooting bag for the front of it. The range by me only goes out to 100 yards. And that range is 39 miles one way for me so I'm only gonna shoot once in a great while. I can't see driving that far to shoot any rifle that is lower than a 308 win. Still your rifle is a good shooter. What high caliber rifle do you have for long range shooting? I personally still would like to have a remington m700 in 308 win with a 26 inch heavy barrel on it and a scope and bipod for 100 yards or farther. I can't afford it though and ammo is to high for me. So I'm just going to stick with my high shooting czech mauser and run military surplus ammo through it.. Lol. It's a big 8x57mm. : )

Not sure why the holes don't look right to you. The squares are 1" each. I had one with measurements added to it, but I can't find it at the moment.
I use a Howa 1500 heavy barrel in .308 with a TacOps bolt knob & cheekpad, Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24x50 tactical scope in Burris XTR rings on an EGW 20MOA picatinny rail. The stock is a Bell & Carlson A2.
I also have a Remington 700 SPS heavy barrel stainless .223 setup the same way for mid-range shooting, but without the knob and 20MOA rail.
I use a Howa 1500 heavy barrel in .308 with a TacOps bolt knob & cheekpad, Bushnell 4200 Elite 6-24x50 tactical scope in Burris XTR rings on an EGW 20MOA picatinny rail. The stock is a Bell & Carlson A2.

I haven't, but I know that several retailers did have them in stock. The only problem is that I get a dealer's discount through them (and a select few others) and have a ton of other items that I plan to purchase at the same time, so I can save a few bucks. The extra few days won't kill me...I should be up and running by the middle of next week.CraigC said:

Like you said, I'd end up spending as much to get it the way I want anyway...why not go ahead and get the stock one that is already set up (and comes standard with a tac. bolt handle and fluting that isn't available on a budget model). FWIW the TR doesn't come with a 1-pc. mount, but I'm not certain that the TRR is any better (but I haven't seen one of these in person so I may very well be incorrect). At any rate the EGW rail is only $35 and comes with the option of 20MOA of cant (I can't fathom a reason not to add an additional 20MOA), so it ends up less costly than the TRR and has less prickly bits hanging off the sides (though you do sacrifice a threaded bbl, which may be a concern for someone that wants to add a suppressor).
Nice toys G27RR. The Howa is the coolest to me of the 2. I got a link to a photobucket page with my toy on it. But that picture is old. I have a black shoulder sling on it now. Man these new sights I was looking at are over 85 bucks a pair before shipping and then I would have to pay a gun smith to put them on. I guess I'll just stick with my factory sights that shoot high.
