Have recently lucked in to a beautiful Winchester Model 75 sporter--not target. It already has a Weaver 'scope, a narrow-gauge item about 3/4" diameter, which is cloudy to look through, especially at 100 yd.

The rifle groups decently, though, at 100 yd, with CCI Mini-Mag Silhouette ammo--about 1 1/2" group off the bench. (It was a bright sunny day, so the target was sort of visible through the 'scope.)

My local club has rimfire silhouette matches, and perhaps I could use this rifle to compete in these matches, except for the cloudiness of the 'scope.

So, what do I replace this 'scope with? Brownell's has the 1" diameter rings for the mount, BTW, so a 1" diameter 'scope is not a problem. What do other 100 yd. rimfire silhouette competitiors use? What do squirrel hunters use? I've never before owned a .22 with a 'scope.

Suggestions, anyone?

Great find! 75 Sporters are surpassed only by 52 Sporters, and considering the huge difference in price I'm quite happy with my 75.

I have an older 4X Redfield 3/4" (AKA "Baby Redfield") on my 75. The smaller scope really looks good on a .22. You can find them on eBay, or if you are really lucky, at a gun show. I don't know why someone doesn't make these today, they are great little scopes.

I didn't want to drill my receiver, so I used target blocks, that is why my scope is a bit higher than I'd like, but it works fine.

Niiiice!

Gator--Beautiful gun! Win sure did use some nice walnut back in the day! My 75 is already receiver-drilled so that's the route to go I guess--but darn, I like the looks of your 'scope blocks.

And for a silhouette gun I guess I'll go with a 6x 'scope. What do you do with yours--Hunt? Target?
