I have a Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 Matte BDC scope that I'm going to put on my H&R 223 Handi Rifle. Can anyone recommend a good set of rings for $20.00 or less?

I have the same outfit with a 75 dollar 3x9 scope. I used some
Weaver rings I found at Wal-Mart for 12 dollars. These are split
vertically; but seem to be well finished and they don't look too
bad. As if it mattered on a H&R.

I used walmart weaver quad locks <$15 I think they were medium height. I had to use the hammer spur with them.

The best rings for proper cheekweld on the HandiRifle are the Leupold Rifleman Weaver rings in low, available at WallyWorld for less than twenty bucks. However, your scope's ocular may not clear the hammer with the low rings and you may have to use the medium rings.

Both suggestions work...The problem with ring heights is that they are not standard. I always try to mount the scopes as close to the barrel as possible but that darned hammer spur keeps things up there...
