Looking for some recommendations for scope rings.

Wanting value priced, budget friendly, for a Ruger American Ranch bolt rifle with a Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40, 1" dia..

I'm thinking possibly some steel Weaver Grandslams, med (dont offer low) at about $30.

I've had good luck with the 2 sets of aluminum UTG QD and I think they are USA (but would have to double check that)

But what else is a good value out there?

  • What height? Med? Or will low work?
  • QD not needed.
  • Open to aluminum or steel but trying to keep light weight package.
  • No China to keep with the no China theme.

I bought a set of Vortex Optics Pro rings and they are very nice for the price. Midway currently has them on sale for $80.

Nikon A series seemed to be real nice quality when I used them. Bout $20 bucks. Low is more like medium in height is why I changed them. Been a couple years now but I believe they were made in the USA.

I like vintage guns, and I always end up with weaver classic detachable rings. But they ain't classy looking by today's standards.

Talley, Leopold, or Vortex, in that order of preference.

The most important feature of any ring set you buy is the spring-arm torque wrench you use to carefully, evenly, tighten the screws, with VibraTite.

Warne Maxima rings are my go-to, believe they are made in the USA.

My other favorites are Burris Signature Zee rings, but I believe those are made in China. My go-to when I need dirt cheap are Weaver Quad Locks, which are also Made in China but are only like $10 and hold pretty darn solid.

But are good rings. Anything under a certain price point will have a 99% chance of being made in China, which doesn't guarantee junk, or quality.

Burris Signature Zee rings are my choice for budget friendly option.

I spend way too much on 1) my optics or 2) my ammo to mess with any rings lesser than these. For the money, there is no excuse.

At a higher price point, the Seekins made Vortex PMR or Seekins direct version are fantastic, the Burris XTR Signature rings offer some versatility unique to their product line, and both hold exceptionally firm.

I just looked and the Warne Maxima horizontal rings are USA.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Is there an issue with with the Weaver Grandslams? Any reason or reviews that stand out as to avoid?

Agreed. I'm not a die hard anti made in China guy, just wanted to make sure it was out there since the OP mentioned it.

And honestly, I'm not die hard either. However, I am trying to buy American or, at least, some friendly country, when reasonably possible and it seems reasonably easy to in this case with rings.

The other half of it is the theme... and I'm not much if a theme guy either.

But it's a Ruger American Ranch with an American name (South Korea made) Bushnell scope. Putting commie rings on it kinda almost seems wrong.

Nothing wrong with the Weaver Grand Slams only issue I've had is one top cap threaded hole was a little difficult carefully ran the screw in and out a couple times it was fine. You can find the Weavers for around $20

I use Warne. Leupold Rifleman rings look extremely flimsy to me but I’ve mounted quite a few and never heard back that any failed. The original Weavers with a flange on one side look flimsy to me also. They are also a serious pain to install because due to only having screws on one side they rotate the scope when the screws are tightened. I have never seen them fail either. I hate them. The Weaver and Rifleman are the lowest cost rings I’d trust.
Talley, Warne, Leupold(Std.), DNZ, Weaver are all the same quality IMO.

Way more Burris rings than anything else on my rifles. I’ve used others but these always perform and are an outstanding value. Warne is my second choice in budget rings, with everything else I like costing double or more.

For Weaver rails, I've probably used more Vortex Pro Series rings than any other. For Picatinny rails (not on an AR), I'm using UTG 'Pro POI' right now, and find the Pro line to be satisfying - it's definitely not airsoft junk.

I have great luck with Weaver rings. I have several sets of these in both 30mm and 1". Another plus is they are made in USA.

Call me old school but before I started buying expensive rings and bases for heavy barrel custom rifles I used Redfield bottom screw rings and the base with the windage screws in the rear. The ones that everyone hates! Redfield has gotten hard to find and lately I've used the equivalent set-up from Leupold. I've never had a failure with them.
