Hey everyone!

So long story short something told me to go to the LGS call it a Gut Feeling. I have been looking for a rifle to start my niece and nephews on for a little bit for now. Kinda torn between getting them something to just get them started at the lower end of the budget rifles ….or Buying something Nice that they will have after I’m gone from here. Right there upfront was a Browning Xbolt Micro Hunter chambered in 243 I asked to see it and was shocked at the price tag $550! Well it did have some honest wear and tear on the stock a few scuff marks if you will. Well that helped me decide to ask hey $500 and I’ll take it home he said sold!!! But alas I wasn’t planning on buying it so I put it on layaway!!!!

So in closing I am Super Happy and know I don’t have to worry about new Hunters scratching up a pristine rifle like my CZ527 in 6.5 Grendel. If anyone has one and has any thoughts about it please share it will most likely get a VX3 HD 2.5-8x36 from Luepold

I share your sticker-shock! I happened to be in WalMart this week and there was a pump shotgun on display that wasn't anything special and they wanted "an arm and two legs" for it. Now, I admit that I haven't bought any guns for quite a while, but can't imagine the proximity of the price of a new "serviceable" pump shotgun on the close side of a Thousand Dollars! Talk about "STICKER-SHOCK"!

I can understand the beater thing but it all depends on the new shooter.

I have a 15 year old great grand daughter that is going to become a quail hunter this season. I just presented her with my SKB made Ithica 680 O/U shotgun that is in excellent, I could even say pristine, condition. The young lady takes care of her things and realizes just how much the gun is worth so I am sure she will give it the care it deserves. The 12 year old is as good but the others could destroy a rock if I gave them one. A couple would do it deliberately.

Guys it’s not a beater the stock has some dings yes but it’s still a $1,000 gun just at a discount because of the stock dings I’m here to tell you I’ll hunt with it when they aren’t lol also if the barrel is shot out that’s fine barrels are use items like tires I’ll replace it if I have to no problem there as far as I’m concerned the Xbolt action right now at the price point it’s at for me that’s $900 to $1,200 I don’t play with the super expensive models in a factory rifle Can’t be beat!

I like the micro/youth guns Browning makes. They are as nice as the full sized versions and work just as well, too.

I bought a youth model BPS 20 gauge shotgun with the shorter stock and 21” vent rib. It actually fits me nicely. I like it so much that I bought a BL-22 Micro Midas for a song when I stumbled upon one.

Reading about your excellent .243 score, I may be looking for a Youth X-Bolt in the future.

Stay safe.

Yes if she shoots as good as she looks we are in great shape!
