Wow.
I went to the range to get some stress relief, (it had not been a great day off), and while I was there I went digging through some old targets to see what I had left. I found two targets from the wonderful Project Appleseed, and I thought....well, why not?
All targets shot from the standing position, non magnified, red dot, load is 124gr Berrys Target Hollow Point over 6.6 grains of Accurate Arms #7 powder.
Now this is the sequence of events, start from the BIG target and work your way down. So I did.
Not bad. Yes, three rounds only within 60 seconds per instructions. Too bad there wasn't another person out there to verify it.
Looked like this...
Shooting this JUST like this.
Next is the target with more reduced pictures. Starting close and working out...
Not too bad, but doesn't count.
300 yards, I think that actually DOES count!
Got cocky, I did.
Single shot at the "head" target per instructions...oops.
Well according to this, I am either Unqualified or a Sharpshooter with the Scorpion pistol at 300 yards - what 9mm load would make it TO 300 yards with "oomph?
I found an unbroken clay pigeon...well, what am I to do with this? So I taped it to another target I found and shot a Lee cast powder coated slug at it. This I found interesting.
That's a BIG hole from that shrapnel! After I shot the rest of it...
Shrapnel makes BIG holes...something to keep in mind, I think.
It was a good day, discovered my preferred hunting load is right on target and running a good velocity. The 124gr XTP with 7.3 grains of AA#7 out of the Scorpion is running 1199 FPS with an SD of only 12. I think that will put paid to both javalina and coyote. That load I used above? BTHP with 6.6 gr #7 is running 1081 out of the Scorpion...WHEN I can get the first round to FEED! After it's IN, the rest run just fine....go figure.
Only fired about 100 rounds, but a good afternoon.
