"The first operator clicked off and I dialed again and told that operator a guy with a gun was holding me hostage with a mother and baby and threatening to kill us. I told her the name of the gas station and then she said they didn't have a unit to send."

Why do we even bother paying taxes? :fire: :scrutiny:

"911" just means that we might get a recording of your death. :banghead:

"911" just means that we might get a recording of your death.

Especially in Detroit. There is a lawsuit pending on behalf of a little kid (age five?) who called 911 repeatedly as his mother was dying of a heart problem. The operator berated him for playing with the phone and hung up on him.

You'd think with a state's most notorious plaintiff's lawyer on the case suing the city for million they would get their act together. Nope. Guess not.

All the article said was that he was a 4 time convicted felon. Merely for the sake of argument, what if his 4 priors were for tax evasion or marajuana possession, for example?
the jury can decide if his crimes don't warrant the needle and give him life w/o parole instead.

i would also like to give props to Ms. Ford, for going to a gas station and stalling. i think that she had the right idea and it would have Worked if the darn cops had come.

Michigan does not have Capital Punishment. Most of the time, I'm happy about that. There are times like this though....

Michigan does not employ capital punishment against its criminals. It does however allow its criminals to employ capital punishment against its citizens.

put him in the general population let everybody know who he is. lots of guys who miss their kids in there.

If I was the responding LEO I wouldn't care if I lost my job, I would do what needed to be done with Tillie right there.

Actually we do have capital punishment in Michigan, just not legislative...it's called inmate justice. People who harm children do not do well in prison. In fact, many who walk in are carried out. Even violent criminals have ethics; this animal on the other hand did not. I am certain that the inmates will impress their values upon him.

I'm generally upset by capital punishment, but in cases like this when you have a person who has done so many wrongs, been given so many second chances and will clearly always be a threat to society, I'd say it is justified.
A Child of the Year Award is reasonable, and if we do make one then this kid is it hands down.
Not to pick on just you, but If you set up the capital punishment laws right, you target the people/crimes that warrant it. Perhaps murder or attempted murder of a young child should be eligible for it. Since no one died, I am not sure he would be eligible for death penalty in Texas anyway.

If I'd been the first officer on the scene, this piece of excrement would have been incredibly lucky to be "disarmed". Mom needs a good butt-whipping, too!

For general consumption, here is the BGs record from the Michigan Department of Corrections:

http://www.state.mi.us/mdoc/asp/otis2profile.asp?mdocNumber=276276

How someone with a maximum sentence of 31 years over 5 violent convictions (including Home Invasion - First Degree) is on parole and walking the street in simply inconceivable. :cuss: I can't comment on that further without reducing myself to the lowest common denominator. :fire:

For anyone interested, this little sheepdog has a fund setup for her:

Turn Tillie over to me. I'll have him screaming for his mommy in the first 5 min. And he won't die until I let him.

Can't we make an exception to the rule that the Medal of Honor can only be given to servicemen(women) just this once?

I'll second the motion for Alexis as "Daughter of the Year" and nominate her mother for "Dumb Mother of the Year" for purposely exposing her daughter and herself to a dangerous, four-time convicted felon!
That would be assuming, of course, that the mother knew he was a four-time convicted felon. Which she might have ... but the article does not state that she knew.

If so, that means that a felon is a felon is a felon.

I agree that Ms Ford should be commended for her actions at the scene and for being friend enough to go see to a friend and her child. The little girl displayed courage empowered by unconditional love for her mother. We all should pray for the physical and psychological recovery of this extraordinary little girl. It remains to be seen what will happen to the monster.
