While cleaning my daughter's new 380 EZ, I noticed what appears to be an extra circlip under the circlip that secures the front sight. Anyone else have this arrangement? I wonder if it was done intentionally?

I hope an S&W assembler didn't use that extra clip as a shim to tighten up the front sight.

My brain says that extra clip will come out on the first range session, right into the innards of that gun.
Exactly my concerns, although it has had two range sessions, probably a total of less than 50 rounds through it.

That looks like a factory oopsie to me. Especially since the clip retaining the other one is not fully seated. Good pic, by the way.

I just spoke with S-W customer service on the phone and the gentleman I spoke with was very non-committal. He said I can send the gun in if I'm worried about it, otherwise just use it. When I expressed concern that it may come loose and rattle around in the slide he allowed as how that seemed to be a possibility... I had actually reasoned through those two scenarios all on my own, but was hoping for something a little more definitive from the manufacturer - no that doesn't seem right, or yes we sometimes do that even though it seems like an odd way to deliver a gun :)

To wrap things up, based on the comments here I removed the surplus circlip, fully seated the original circlip and all appears to be well.

Thanks for your comments.

I love my EZ but I’m a little appalled that the front sight is secured with just a clip. Not exactly Old World craftsmanship.
