I need to ship a new Mossberg .410 to Mossberg to get it serviced.

What does one need to do to do this? The safest, surest, legal, it wont get lost, damaged or stolen way. (or any other way I cant think of right now)

Thanks.

Mossberg should definitely have all the info needed.
So should FedEx, USPS or UPS.
When in doubt, search through the legal forum for this topic.
Safest? = Unloaded
Surest? = Insured, certified/tracking number/signature delivery
Legal?...= Don't write "THIS IS A GUN!!" on the box
Maybe someone from Michigan will have specifics for that state.

Prevent loss, damage, theft? = Good luck with that

Here are a thread about this...

Thanks I searched this forum and got all kinds of threads. I'll try the legal forum. I havent called mossberg yet will tomorrow though. thought I would ask the pro's 1st

when you talk to mossberg, just mention that you have a printer and could they send you a prepaid label just to make sure that it gets sent to the right place through the right shipment company. let them know you are not a dealer and this is your first time doing this.:D

Shipping a long gun via UPS is simple, just follow a few rules:

1. Must be sent to an FFL ( Mossberg is an FFL)

2. Must be sent from a hub, not from the UPS stores.

3. Must tell them its a firearm

4 Insure it, if you want safety.

I've sent numerous rifles this way, and never had a problem.

Did you even read the URL I posted?

UPS accepts any legal shipment (not just to FFL holders).

Please quit giving out partial info.

you may not want to tape up the box when you go to the UPS service center. At one UPS Center I went to, the lady had me open up the box (after it was securely taped up) to check to see if the case was strong enough to take the abuse of their loading machines and also she said next time when I ship a gun out, they wanted to see if it was unloaded (meaning don't tape up the box).

I didn't have this kind of hassle at another UPS service center so it's a crap shoot.

servn99, sounds like the lady who take care you was an anti. I've never had that at neither UPS or Fed Ex.

If they send you a label, send it however the label specifies. If you have to pay for the shipping, USPS would probably be the cheapest.
