This is more of just a general question or poll of other members. The two ffl's I deal with require a copy of a drivers license if the pistol is shipped directly from an individual instead of through an ffl. I am just wondering if this is the same procedure some of your ffl's require or if my ffl's are being unreasonable as another member I am trying to complete a transaction with is telling me.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Sam

The FFL must have something to verify/document the source of any gun that ends up on their books. A scanned (LEGIBLE!!) copy of the owners drivers licence is a way to have said written documentation, and does not seem at all unreasonable to me.

But of course, I'm an FFL and that is what I require. Can't be bothered to supply me one? Feel free to find another FFL. I'm not going to loose my license/go to jail to do you a favor to make a $20 transfer fee.

Nuff said.

Thanks for the reponses guys I really appreciate it. I didn't think my guys were unreasonable.

If I am going to receive a firearm from an individual from another state for transfer and not from another FFL, I require a copy of their DL either by mail or email, BEFORE they ship. I'll not receive it without it. Last thing I need is to receive a firearm from someone without knowing who sent it.
