Shooting Chrony question??

Just got a Shooting Chrony Beta Master (don’t want to switch that around, do you?). Haven’t taken it to the range yet but I’ve read the manual a couple of times just to get familiar and practiced with my Grandson’s Red Ryder BB Gun on the back deck. In the manual they explain the various Error Displays and what causes the error but no where can I find how to remove the Error Display. I fired another BB with the display on the screen and it seems it just ignores the shot that caused the error. Am I correct here or should I pull up that number shot and delete it? At the time it happened I did not search around and see what was remembered for that particular shot but if there was an Error I assume there was obviously no velocity recorded and therefore nothing to delete. I did call the factory and the tech. said to delete the shot but I’m not real sure he understood what I was asking.

Timothy, In regards to your Chrony, I can offer no suggestion as to clearing the error. You did state "Am I correct here or should I pull up that number shot and delete it?" Can you do that? If so you will keep your string of data going forward.

Most sky screen type chronograph errors are due to the screens not seeing the bullet fly overhead because of lack of contrast due to bright sunlight and glare or the bullet not flying over all of the screens. On occasion muzzle blast will cause problems because the front screen's movement will cause errors.

My last thougt is that the velocity of the BB gun is near or below that of the timing in your chrono . Try it with something you know should be going 1000 fps or more on a day when the sun is not bright and overhead. Let us know.

IIRC it ignores the shot. I rarely use all the brains in my SC, so I don't remember perzactly.

the easiest way is to just turn the unit off,I usually write my data down,and am an inpatient soul,so I just turn it off and back on and continue shooting.

It'll ignore it..just attempt to correct the problem (shooting too high, might need to put the screens on..or tilt the chrony) and shoot away.

It might be because it was to slow, but I doubt it. My Shooting Chrony doesn't have a problem with things as slow as 170 fps, haven't tried anything slower yet. Sometimes one screen or the other just doesn't pick up the projectile.

When I get the error message I just press the clear button. I write down the results of every shot in a notebook and crunch the numbers at home later so the strings the Chrony saves don't matter to me.

Just fire the next shot. The Chrony ignores the error. No need to delete, clear, restart, etc.
