Shooting in Atlanta Courthouse

Amen, El Tejon. The obvious propoganda opportunity for HCI aside, this is a sad day for the families of those subjected to the evil of this POS.

The solution to these shootings is to prohibit the police from carrying evil firearms in the courthouse, or have them use those wonderful new "smart guns" that authenticate the holder before allowing it to fire a round. :scrutiny:

The county where I work not long ago had a man come into our courthouse with a baseball bat and began striking people with it. According to MANY witnesses he only went after Whites and one Hispanic. He intentionally over looked Blacks as he went on his two minute rampage hitting several people.

He was a Black male about 38 years old on trial for felony cocaine charges and he was out on bond at the time.

His little bout of racial batting practice ended when one of the DA Investigators shot him once in the chest.

We have criminal court one week out of each month followed by a week of civil trials; we have problems nearly each court calendar to the extent that the county has to pay overtime for between 4 and 8 Deputies to assist that week.

Nichols, who also faced charges of sodomy, possession of a machine gun, possession of a handgun, and possession of marijuana, had not taken the stand yet in the trial, which started Tuesday

Sounds like the guy is a shooter by practice. Or maybe just gangbanger, but he seems a little old for that.

Anyone know the story behind the "possesion of a machine gun" charge they keep mentioning?

This guy has now killed 4 people an hour and a half down the road from me and still hasn't been caught. :fire:

VEPR coming out of the safe, anyone?

For a thread I started on this topic at 9:00 AM on the "Legal and Political" forum, see "another one....judge killed in Atlanta."

Could someone with more knowledge of the guidelines for THR tell me which is the correct forum for a topic like this? I just hate to go looking for multiple repetitive threads.

Just another reminder that it's a dangerous world we live in. And I sit in court all day!

The court admin came in just after it happened, and told me about it. Here we always figure that if we had an incident, it would be in the parking lot, not inside, since they all get checked in. And when we take prisoners to court, and they have to be in "civvies", they get to wear Sparky's big brother!

Prayers for the families affected.
Hope the guy gets caught soon.

The courthouse must be in a high crime neighborhood.
I almost put "...or else this guy has been really busy" which, it seems, turned out to be the case.

CNN is now advising Atlanta residents to go home, lock their doors and remain inside until the suspect is caught.
Run and hide! Run and hide!

Mods: You may want to combine this with the thread in Gen. Gun.

The sky is falling!! Hide sheeple hide!! And if you happen to run into the suspect, curl up in a little ball and do whatever he says. Remember, non-violence is the key!!

No Guns In Courthouse?

If anybody on the Forum bumps into someone who says that banning guns from the courthouse would help.....remind them of Mark Wilson, and ask how many more people would have been killed, IF the courthouse guards were unarmed and Mark hadn't stepped in??

CNN just reported the Deputy who had the gun taken away from them was a female and now they are howling about why guns would even be allowed into the courts at all, LEO or not.

Questioning the level of training the LEO’s had etc…

I have one comment…

WHAT ABOUT THE ????ING ANIMAL WHO DID THIS? WHY ARE THEY NOT PICKING APART HIS RECORD AND HIS BACKGROUND!?!?!?!?!??!

JFC!!!!!!!

Because, when you live in the Land of the Left (as most journalists do) the "victim" is always the criminal and the criminal the victim. :banghead: :fire:

God bless the families of this horrible tragedy.

Merged Rico's dupe thread with this one.

Rico - have merged your thread into this one. As to choice of forum - well not always easy. In this case either choice is IMO valid. I know also it is often hard to see if someone has already posted.

I would suggest tho - with a ''hot'' topic ... that you check the ''View new posts'' option as this sorta thread usually stays quite high up the listing on the same day.

Hye. let me get this straight.Deputy is assigned to courthouse for security purposes. S/he is jumped by this guy, disarmed during the fight, and shot/killed. Now, CNN is questioning (1) the need for firearms in the courthouse and (2) the responsibility of the deceased deputy?

I shouldn't be shocked by this, but I am.

Nichols is a rabid dog and needs to be put down.

Prayers with all the families.

May his justice fly straight and true.

"The security in the Fulton County Courthouse, the way they deal with prisoners, is absolutely atrocious," attorney Dennis Scheib told CNN. "I said this was going to happen."

But Fulton County State Court Judge Craig Schwall described security at the courthouse as "phenomenal." Judges have their own private elevator, accessible only by key card, he said. Their chambers are heavily secured, he said, and they and other court officials have their own secure parking garage. "I think that, as public servants, we all have to be mindful of these risks," Schwall said.
Guess it all depends on your perspective. :uhoh:

The correct forum for stories like this is General Discussion.

Channel 11 in Atlanta just pointed out that since Atlanta PD officers are required to turn in their guns when entering a court room, they would not have been able to help, even if present. Hopefully, this will lead to some common sense.

Does the Sheriffs carry 9mm, or 41...41mm weapons, because we know that 41mm is a heavier gun, a serious kill weapon, and also what is the shot load?

Media geniuses at work. Direct quote from 11Alive Atlanta.
Yes, 41mm IS a bigger gun, and a serious kill weapon :)
