Shooting Low, don't know why?

I've recently resumed shooting after a few years and I've actually been doing pretty well. I've shot paper and even some combat courses. I can shoot competetively but with my sig 220 I have to aim at the top of the target. I shot 30 slow, well controlled rounds off hand and had a large open hole about 3 - 4 inches below the target at 25 yds. I shot a friends Kimber (better trigger) and put all in the target - 3 or 4 inches at 25 yds. I shot a combat course and did quite well but had to aim at the top of the targets. I've shot my sig in the past (years ago) and didn't have this problem. I've considered (but not attempted to change) grip, trigger, recoil springs, lighter/stronger handloads, etc. I cannot figure out the problem. Can someone give me a list of possibilities and how would you address them. I've got a 10 hour tactical class in 1 week.

Shoot some off a sandbag rest to prove to yourself that you are yanking the trigger and pulling the shots low. Then do a lot of dryfire and ball-and-dummy drills.

Sounds like flinch to me. Practice with a .22, do lots of dry fire, in live fire mentally visualize the hammer falling on an *empty* chamber, etc.

Check the numbers on your front and rear sight, should be on the left side of the front sight and on the front of the rear sight. My Sig 220 shoots as it should and came from the factory with no. 8 front and rear. You can purchase different sight heights for your Sig so if needed you can get a lower front or a higher rear combination to bring up your point of impact.

Have a friend load a mag with 1 or 2 dummy rounds stashed in there at random - the better "snap caps" should feed from the mag if you can't make up dummy rounds - & have him/her watch you shoot standing to your left or right.

Sounds to me you might be anticipating the recoil & pushing the muzzle downward as the trigger breaks - assuming you are using the same sight picture that you have in the past.

Is this a recent CPO Sig? My CPO 226 had a front site that was too tall. A #8, I believe. After changing to a shorter front sight it has shot to POA. I believe the 'smith said he went to a #7.

Might also be that you're shooting lighter bullets now than you did originally, which would print lower on the target (it exits the muzzle sooner, so there's less muzzle-rise). Try a heavier bullet.

A flinch...possible, but from your group sizes I'd say that you have fairly decent trigger-control. If it's a flinch, it's a very consistent one, which would be unusual.

The sights might also have been set for point-of-aim (aka center-hold) at a certain distance with a certain load - and if you're using a 6 o'clock hold, the bullets will hit lower.

At 25 yards my P220 shoots very low I had to aim at the top of the paper to hit the bottom of it, very low it has a #6 front and a #8 rear and I don't know how low the front can go I may have the lowest, at 7- 15 yards it's close to point of impact but still a little low

some of this may be me but it can't be all me, I tried this even from a rested position as a matter of fact I was able to hit better off hand don't ask me why.

As Kevinch wrote as well; add some snap caps at random into your magazine. See if you are pulling your shots down. That would be step one.

I have the same problem with two differant pistols, and only when I shoot two handed, the sights are correct(used sandbag and shoots correct) what am I doing wrong?

I also agree with Kevinch, it seems to be recoil anticipation. I had a lot of trouble with that a few months ago. I was pretty consistent, but always low. After repeated drills with random snap caps intermingled in my mags, I finally got past it and I am consistent in the 9 or better @ 25 now.
Give it a try

If the bullet isn't hitting in the center of the target check the area for the shooters mistake.
