Shooting my .40's.

I managed to run across a box of 40 caliber ammo recently and hope to shoot it up at the range soon.

Maybe it's just me, but my accuracy with a 40 caliber is about the same as 9mm or 45acp.

This is probably my most accurate 40 caliber, due to the thick grip (double-stack mag), big sights, and decent 1911 trigger.

I hand load .40 ammo and I got some interesting bullets. 130gn Frangible doing 1250fps!

nothing says 2001 like .40 cal guns! wrap around Houge grips

On a 2015 atv too. Lol. That day I was actually working up the lightest load of unique/ 180gr PHP bullets that would reliably cycle an assortment of .40s for steel shooting.

I put my first hogue grips on a p97DC made way before 01. On most guns I like them. I don't care for them on revolvers though. A bit too thin for my liking. I also hated one on a Glock. I have several Sigs. All have Hogue wrap around grips. Anything beats the E2 in my opinion.

I Graduated high school in 2001
I’m not going to lie, I like Houge Wrap Around grips! On a Glock, it feels right. Not everything has to be super slick and extra taci-cool!

I even liked the Bubba ATI SKS stocks!

After the Clinton Ban expired, everyone was having a good time! 2001 was Unforgettable!

We should have a .40 fan club!

All the tac cool people hates .40 and the old people hate everything not .45! So it’s like the hipster caliber before hipster became not cool!

I'm 73, I hate only certain gun makes; I hate no calibers. I prefer a .40 or a 9mm since that is what I have basically carried my entire life; other than early in the Army a .45; but found, through personal experience, a 9mm will do the job and so will the .40.

Many people hate many thing for no apparent reasons, other than they just hate them.

Cannot even count how many people I have met in many states and countries who hate a particular caliber and have never used them in a situation where a gun was used to save a life. They get their info from the internet, or friends or grandpa. But it's their right. And I will always say carry what you want so long as it is legal.

And I don't care if a person is carrying a RPG if they don't hit what they are aiming for, size matters not! (However, closeness does matter more than size at times.)

Similar to people who hate certain trucks just cause it is cool. Ask them, why and they have no particular reason.

I’m with you too! I don’t hate any caliber either and I was joking about old people and .45. Heck, I love .45 hardball coming out of a Colt. I don’t really hate much at all, except 2020 has gotten me hatting a certain political party, but that’s nor here or there.

RPG CCW.... hummmm, that back blast would be a doozy

I decided to go .40 less a while back and sold off all my guns that took it, last one was a pretty nice Sig P229, and wow, did I take a bath on it on GB.
oooh come on! and I bet you also take soy cream with your coffee!!!

I have never owned or shot a handgun in 40S&W. I often found fired casings at various shooting association venues that I had membership in. Its just something that came and went that I did not bother with. Most likely because I was so invested in the 9X19mm and 45ACP as I did not see its virtues.

I felt that way for a long time, being heavily involved in shooting sports since the late 80s, I remember both the wheat and the chaff.
I used to joke that if I won the lottery I'd buy a bunch of 40s in guns I didn't like.
When the pendulum swung back to 9mm the market for 40s for a gun nut seamed like a lotto win.
I started with an unissued G23 with night sights and 3 mags for $375. Got ammo on clearance cheap too.
The Glock is gone they just don't work for me, but there are now 4 40s in my collection and after 30+ years I've concluded that all handguns are a compromise. I often see folks in the gun world that use the term "best compromise" and then extol the advantages while arguing the disadvantages don't exist but really "best compromise" is an oxymoron

Years ago, I had a Ruger P91 which I sent back to the factory for accuracy issues (so I thought).
Ruger promptly returned the gun stating it was within tolerances and included the test target.
1.72" at 25 yards, ten rounds of Blazer.

I was never a .40 fan, first gun in it was an Astra A75. Not pleasant to shoot.

No soy cream in my coffee, mostly because I think coffee is just gross. I can't even drink anymore, makes me flush like crazy. I got drunk on my 60th birthday, and it was horrible. I used to have a lot of fun when I was drunk, but the flushing made it a really bad experience.

At least I can eat anything I want and not have any heartburn, or "bathroom action", unlike most of my friends at this point.

well dang! tell you what... when I’m 60, I hope to still have legs! So, your doing Good then! And Soy is not that bad in moderation, Especially for me, I got so much testosterone that you can bottle it....EEERRRRRRWWWWW

Just kidding

I still have legs, but man, they don't work all that great. Be careful, one seemingly minor fall was all it took to start me on a real bad bad string of injuries that ended up with knee surgery and a total change of my life.
