shortage of guns

It's all what you get used to, I've carried mine on many a Jackrabbit hunt. Picked up a second one 6 months ago for 350.00 used with a holster, but don't believe it was shot more than a dozen shots.
Apparently a lot of folks like these beast's. Yesterday morning there were 14 available at Midway. This morning only 5 left. ;-)

I wonder why Uberti Walkers and Navy's are trickling in to retailers like Midway periodically but the 1860's and Dragoons are not, nor can you backorder them?

I’d think it quite probable they’ve had issues with staffing, but they’ve also gone through stints of lockdowns. Maybe they’re making runs of things to cut expenses of running all sorts of machinery cutting the time the final products can be assembled and readied for shipping. If you can’t run a full shop you work in bits and pieces to make it cost efficient. A guess of course.

Thanks rodwha. Sounds like a good explanation to me.

I bought two 1851 navy. Brass and steel 3 or so months ago at cabelas. They were just sitting in the glass cabinet. They got them in Dec 2020.. with a 2020 build date.. so they were sitting in the store fir 5 or so months. They also had 3 other Navy versions. Lots of 1873 single actions.

The steel they had a 2nd one in the back. Th3 brass i had to buy the display with a few scratchs on it. Ive been doing to cabelas weekly to check out for ammo and other guns and no one has bought any of the 1800s style guns. They all still there.

But i do see tons of people buying shotguns and pistols. Other shops ive been too dont even carry bp.. all they have are walls of ar style guns. One i went too the other day gad 3 rows of the same ar and about 50 different types all along the wall.. Tons of pistols and they had so much ammo their shelvs were full. So full the main floor had a 20 foot line of brown packing boxes full of ammo.

If this store and cabelas and other stores near me have so many guns and ammo i find it hard to believe that there is still an ammo and gun shortage.

There are also tons of used guns too.. cabelas has so many they ran out of room to put them in display

Just because you keep repeating the same thing over and over does not make it true . You are giving one Small sample . Unless you have travelled the entire USA recently your claim means nothing .

Why spread BS there tough guy ? You yourself admit you are new to the whole gun thing, why do you think you are a expert already ?

Hi Zulch. I will give you some of the reasons I don't shoot much anymore. First is my health or rather problems from diabetes. I have nephropathy in my lower legs and feet and it makes it hard to walk on uneven terrain like out in the woods of fields to shoot at my buds land. With the numbness in my feet I stumble over branches and roots I can't feel. And since my bud built his home made airplane he no longer cares much about shooting. His whole life is wrapped up in his plane. And I mean whole life. If he isn't flying it he is working on it. I never saw anything that needs so friggin' much maintenance done to it. He will still shoot a little but its not like it used to be.

And I guess getting older I don't have the desire to shoot like I did 40+ years ago or even 5 years ago. Or even deer hunt. I am the only one who likes the meat and usually end up giving it back to my bud who eats lots of deer meat. I don't know your age but I bet you are young and raring to go when it comes to shooting. Thats how I was when I really started way back around 1982. I would go shoot two-three times a week. And I loved to hunt. didn't matter what. Just as long as I got to go hunt. So enjoy yourself. Its a great sport. And I'm not going to sell all my guns. Some are earmarked for my two sons. Some I just really like to look at and handle. But I have way too many guns for my own use anymore. So sending a few to others who would like to have them seems like the right thing to do.

Take care and thanks for asking.

Thomas, Tim here. I was just wondering how you are doing? Wanted to say hi and hope all is well with you sir.
Thanks,
Tim

Hey Tim. Thanks for the kind words and I am as fine as I will ever be. I did sell my Sheriffs model NMA on GB and just got the payment in the mail. The same guy bought my Traditions Springfield Hawken I built from a kit many years ago. I hope he appreciates how well that rifle shoots. Its has the smoothest, slickest bore you ever saw on about any gun. Its not fancy but its a shooter.

Thomas, Great to hear from you. I'm glad you were able to sell some of your guns. I hope you fared well. Thank you for the reply.
