Even Clinton admitted that Gore lost the election because of the NRA and its members....The Democrats are killing themselves with their anti-gun tirades and that really helps..

They're not perfect but they're the best we've got. Join, then attach a letter to any contributions you send telling them to stop compromising. Compromise does nothing to our enemies but encourage them. They'll still paint the NRA as the Great Satan no matter how much they concede.

I'm also a member of JPFO, and think a lot more people should join that group

Me too. NRA, JPFO, and MCDL (Maryland Citizen's Defense League) member. I make sure to mention all three when I write my leftist Legislators...

Well I signed up for the basic $35 membership..Not sure how long till i get anything in the mail..but i signed up :).

Join.
While the no-compromise, in-your-face attitude of the smaller groups like JPFO and GOA is appealing to many (including me), they just don't have the political clout of the NRA.

Well put. Me too, BTW.

Those who refuse to join because of the NRA's record of "compromising" on certain issues remind me of an election for public office.

Let's say two candidates are running for president... One has a stated goal of taking all my guns away, and the other has stated they think only some guns should be confiscated. Since I think no guns should be confiscated I simply stay home and vote for neither candidate... leaving the choice completely to others.

My buddy, on the other hand, not only votes for the second candidate, but actively supports him or her with money and volunteer time. Once this candidate has won, my buddy remains active - working within the party to change their stance on guns to a less compromising one, and writing letters to both the (now) president - as an active supporter - and others in power as well.

Which one of us has done more to help the cause of gun rights? Me, because I wouldn't compromise, or my buddy?

You don't have to agree with everything they do but they are the most powerful gun lobby around.

You have no business owning guns if your not an NRA member.

Definately join.

Thats what I do Chet.
Every year I re-up my membership. I'm sure there are advantages to multi-year memberships and even life membership but I'm a one year at a time member.
Don't be bothered by all the send us more money tactics they will use after you get in...it's their job.
Enjoy the magazine and the fact the you are in the NRA.

Do it!

I actually just sent in my membership paper today. Wayne LaPierre has totally convinced me that he wants to fight for our 2A rights.

Really, unless 25 bucks is going to break the bank, why not join? You get a magazine, a hat and a cool little sticker to put in your car window. :D

I'm a Life Member. Also a former employee.

When the situation with my job becomes a little more stable, I'm going to up for Benefactor member, something I should have done a long time ago.

I've got a very bad feeling that the next couple of election cycles aren't going to be especially kind to those of us who like firearms.

Yes. I will say "no" just as soon as the NRA stops being hated and feared so much by our enemies.

But for real action, don't look to them. The NRA is a symbol.

I'm a life member of both the NRA and JPFO.
Join the NRA first because of their political clout, and JPFO second for the work they are doing.
Emails to your reps are all but useless, while letters carry far more weight.

Join.
Write.
Vote.

After the last election...

when liberals got their head handed to them, one was on TV and said

"The biggest reason we lost was the NRA". Good enough for me.

Why do you think Howard Dean is so, so far left but thinks guns are OK? He may be a flaming liberal but he's not stupid.

For those that think the NRA always caves in.....pal, you got to pick your fights. Try to win 'em all and you won't win any. For those that haven't noticed, there seem to be more and more "right to carry" states. That wouldn't happen without the NRA

Tell people you're a member of one of the other alphabet organizations and they'll say "Huh???

Then tell them you're an NRA member. Bet you don't have to explain that.

Yeap

The NRA is by far the most effective representative we have out there for the right to keep and bear arms. Join up. Hmmm...now that I mentioned it...I better re-up.....now where did I put my checkbook.....?
