By the title, the first SHTF would be that PRK people get elected to the White House, and restrict us all from detachable box mag fed weapons (integral is fine, like the MN, SKS, tube-fed), and that's it for rifles. And, no pistols with capacity of more than 8 if it's fed by a detachable box mag (hey, I like 1911's, and I'm making up the scenario :neener: ). But, just as a twist, they allow one to shorten their rifles to become a pistol (no SBRs, only pistol). Other than that, all rules apply. What would you pick, and why, if SHTF after the gun-restriction SHTF?

I'd take an SKS and a Springfield long-slide 1911. Why? Got one, really want the other, and ammo would hopefully be available. Anyone else?

I already have an M1A and an SA 1911. I would just use those until we took back the government in washington and ejected them in favor of john mccain. As we closer to California, then since it would be urban fighting I would switch to my Remington 870 and springfield XD9. We should not have to go to PRK since McCain would probably just send 20 or so B2s to nuke them.

I just refuse to be pessimistic enough to think that a liberal Kalifornian would ever be in a position to have a dramatic impact on my daily life. They might have some Federal law passed requiring all states with sodomy laws to change those laws to "following too close," but I doubt they'll have much more of an impact than that, nationwide.

I'd grab two firearms.

Both being Winchester 94, .30-30.

Then I'd pay the $150 each to take them into Canada for a hunting trip.
Defect.
Live the rest of my life in a country that has more freedom than the US since it became the Peoples Republic Of North America. Subsidiary of the UN. (With a big banner out front that reads: UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!)

Does the phrase "From my cold, dead hands" mean anything to you? Where's Charlton Heston when you need him?

Seriously, though, I have a bunch of rifles that would still qualify. A Garand would be my first choice.

My favorite rifle and pistol are already a 1911 and a tanker Garand. :)

Mattw, either you're kidding, or you don't know John McCain. But trust me, McCain is no friend of gun owners nor the constitution.

I think that is the day I would have to start welding my mags so as to make them non-detatchable...
Don't you guys remember the "new" assault weapons ban that those RPK morons had all typed up and ready to replace the one that DIED? It wasn't nearly as lenient as your "what if" scenario here... It banned ALL semi-autos that could even ACCEPT detachable magazines over 10 rounds (basically all detachable mag weapons, including the Remington 7400 and Browning BAR), AS WELL AS banning ALL semi-auto rifles with FIXED magazines that could be made to accept over 10 rounds! (There goes your SKS, FAB, etc). Of course, since the SKS has magazines AVAILABLE that are detachable and over 10 rounds, it COULD be interpreted and banned in the FIRST one.

I don't have the money or anything, but I WANT an M1A Scout before it's too late :D
