I was reading a post on arfcom earlier, and someone mentioned that they would, in a SHTF scenario, outfit neighbors and others who were friendly with Patrol Packs. I.E. A2 rifles, AR500 vests and armor, 500 count rounds of 5.56 and three magazines.
Now, I'm not a huge SHTF prepper or anything of the sort, but it did get me thinking. What A2 AR-15 could he possibly be outfitting them with?? Now I don't often see an A2 for sale just at a common firearms dealer or online store, they are mostly just builds by different people who like the look, so that doesn't sound extremely practical to me.
It does make me wonder however. What cheaper 5.56 rifle would he be outfitting them with?? So my question is, what cheaper rifle would you arm the people with?? It needs to be reliable and whatnot, but it doesn't need to be expensive, because dropping thousands of bucks on a theoretical scenario that won't likely happen anytime soon isn't entirely practical. So again, what are you arming the people with??
(It does sound entertaining to have your own army of volunteers though, doesn't it????
