Just wondering if they were anyone's favorite. I just received a box of 100. I primarily shoot cast lead. I suppose the load data mirrors that of any bullet listed as a JHP. I'm planning to load them a bit stouter than the plinking loads I use. Wondering if any one had a preference in powder for this particular bullet.
Oh yeah, thats my favorite! I use XTPs as well, but I love the Sierra. I LOL'd when I first heard them referred to as "flying ashtrays". Cuz thats pretty much it.
Lemme go check my data and come back with my recipe.
Okay im back.
6.5 grains of Unique, gets them going an average of 840FPS out of my FNP45.
Stout, but not super hot.
5 grains of Bullseye will net the same FPS, but I think the recoil is a tad more sharp.
I bought a 100 box some time ago, saw them on a shelf and thought I would splurge a bit and see what I could do with them. Haven't done much with them as I feel almost guilty shooting such a pretty and expensive bullet. But, out of my H&K USP Expert, 4.9 gr of VV N320 averages 800 FPS and 4.1 gr of VV N310 averages 788 FPS and both loads make very small groups on paper at 25 yds.
Actually, the "flying ashtray" referred to the old, discontinued Speer 200grn .451" JHP. Not a "gold dot". Though admittedly, the Sierra isn't far behind.
