Sig MPX with Timney trigger is double firing

I'll post this here since technically this thing is a pistol.

This is only the second time I've taken the MPX out. The first time it had the icky stock trigger. I installed the Timney one a couple weeks ago.

It started double tapping and I only got about half a mag through before the range officer made me put it away ASAP.

Anybody have an idea off the top of their head what would cause it to do that? Perhaps the set screws weren't tight enough? It's a drop in unit I don't know much that's there to mess up.

Send the trigger pack back to Timney

sadly that's probably my best option. I'll take a look at it tonight to see if there's something obviously wrong but otherwise yeah

This is a well known issue with their AR15 triggers. IIRC, there was something about adjusting a screw on the disconnector so that it just barely touches the hook on the hammer as it re-cocks. Have you tried calling customer support yet? Maybe they can offer a suggestion before you have to send it back...

I figured they probably weren't open this afternoon so I'll give them a call Monday (Or Tuesday, with Memorial Day and all) and see what they say. I can send back the trigger, or heck the whole gun and tell them to make sure it works right before they send it back.

I also see that the trigger I've got in there is the model 681. It seems that has been superseded by the model 683 that Sig is apparently now shipping from the factory with the MPXes.

Ok so on closer examination I realized the trigger pin had walked itself out. Apparently I hadn't tightened down the set screws on the Timney trigger enough to keep it from happening. I'm guessing the trigger is probably just fine, though I'm still going to call Timney and ask how much to torque down those screws.

I ordered up a set of those JP Enterprises oversize anti-walk pins to put on there. That should prevent this from happening again. And because I don't like punching out that roll pin to take the safety off, I've got a new Seekins one on the way. Once I get that stuff in there and everything tightened to proper specs I think I should be good.

Timney must have included too much coolness or awesomeness in the making of that trigger. In fact it would be an illegal level of cool. It's nearly Fonzie cool.

Better send it back to Timney and ask for a new one with less coolness included before something bad happens.

LOL. They are doing just that. We exchanged a couple emails this morning and they're going to swap my model 681 for a 683 so I should be good to go.
