Howdy, I've got a Sig P226 that I normally carry IWB daily. In the past I've had issues with the grip screws showing a bit of rust if I didn't oil the gun once a week or so. Today I pulled it out of the holster and there is a big splotch of rust on the trigger. Right where my finger would touch it while firing. The last time I oiled it was Tuesday before last(cleaned and oiled after going to the range).
It is possible that I didn't wipe down the trigger during the last cleaning.
What do you think?
Should my Sig just up and rust so easy?
I understand it's a humid enviroment inside my pants(no I don't pee myself) but come on, almost weekly oiling and it still rusts this easy??
Is there something I can do to inhibit the rust?
It only seems to affect the trigger and screws as they are a different material than the rest of the gun. Except the internals look like the same material but don't show signs of rust.
I was thinking once I get the rust off I could put a little clear nail polish on the screws to protect them but I'm leery about doing that to the trigger. Ideas?
