Purchased an Sig P227 on somewhere. The seller actually shipped before I paid. What trust. No, worries, I covered the purchase. Went to see the pistol Tuesday and get the paperwork going. It came with four factory mags. It’s used and my inspection showed it clean with light wear. It will be at least another week before I can take it home. Who has one of these? Things to look our for?

I sold a Model 220 to get the 227. The grip actually fits me better on the 227 and I appreciate having the couple of extra rounds on board when I carry it concealed for self-defense. I really like this pistol.

It fits my hand well. I tried a Glock 21 but hated the finger groves. Always wanted a da/sa 45 acp to go with the two 1911’s. I better get in the basement and get to loading 45. Something tells me I’m going to need it. No worries have plenty of components. Grips?

I’ve had a new one since 2015 with a very low round count. Never had an issue with it but I think the night sights might be starting to fade.

had one before. i did a straight up trade for a p220. the p220s fit my hand better so i shot the 220 better.no functional issues with the 227.

I’d rather have a P220. SIG makes excellent extended 10 round mags for the P220 and the grip is far more comfortable than the P227.

I looked at a 220. I found the handgrip not to my liking, I have slightly larger hands. My son on the other hand has baseball mits for hands. We’ll see how it fits him. Until I held one, I was seriously considering buying a 220 from Eurooptic when they had an Sig rebate going on. The Glock 21 finger groves were too small for my fingers or I would have picked up one of those.

I have the P-227 Carry. It's a superb pistol, and my favorite non-1911 .45 ACP gun. With the Hogue G10s (I don't like the E2 grips), it feels like it was designed for my hand. No issues whatsoever (well, with the "enhanced" grip shape, some encounter inadvertent pressure on the slide stop with the thumbs-forward grip, if one has the strong hand thumb above the "hump" which will cause the slide to not lock back on an empty mag -- why I changed to the more conventional grip style).. Accurate and reliable as any production SIG pistol. As noted, you may have trouble finding mags, and if you can, they can be pricey. Yes, it was a relatively short production run, but that's not a knock against the pistol, just that higher-capacity .45s weren't selling (with the recent trend toward 10-round mag limits in several states, I'd bet the 227 would sell better these days). IMO, terrific pistols.

I had one for a minute, but traded that porker off! It went bang everytime, just hated the grip. Got a great deal on it, as the previous owners German Sheppard ate the E2 grip off it! Lol

That’s a gun I still wish I had picked up when I had a chance.

Me too. But I'm ok with my P220 and if I want a big gun that holds some extras, I have the SAR K2 45 with 14+1. Shoots almost as well as the Sig.

Yeah, kinda the same but with an HK45c or 1911, plus the Glock 21 for high cap.

Had a 220 and 245 in the past but moved them on.

Out of all the .45 ACP guns I've had, the only one I wish I had kept is my original S&W 4506. The one I have now is nice, but that original one was like a 20 year old time capsule, with all the paperwork, barely fired, in fact, it might have not been fired since it left the factory. I got an offer that now is about right for one, but back like 5 years ago, it was crazy high.

Picked it up today. Broke it down. Minimal wear. Dry as a bone. No hint of oil anywhere. I will give it a complete clean tomorrow then lube. Tonight is mommy dearest time and she’s going to get my undivided attention.

These are the grips I put on my P-227 Carry (and yeah, they're a bit spendy):

I really developed a distaste for the "enhanced" E2 grips -- that hump on the left side didn't work for me, and forced a high-thumb forward grip with the strong hand that put pressure on the slide-stop, meaning that when I emptied a mag, the slide wasn't locking back. These grip panels make the 227 have a more conventional SIG P-series grip configuration.

I saw those from your earlier post. I got the wooden ones. Should be in this week. Did a takedown and cleaning. It was dirty, but not overly so. Greased the rails. It’s ready to try out. See what I can do this week.

Took it to the range today. Just a couple mags. Easy to hit the target. Follow up shots were easy. Brass went up and hit the ceiling hard. Wanted to test functionality more than accuracy. I will work with it. Used ammo I loaded for the 1911. It seemed to like it. 200 grain RN lead in front of 5 grain bullseye.
