Hi,

I picked up a NIB Sig Pro 2022 9mm a few weeks ago. I've only put 150 rounds through it but I'm in love with this gun. It shoots way better than I do (pics are available if anyone cares :D). Here's my question...

I was aware that Sig only ships one magazine with the gun these days, but what's really confusing is the grips it came with. Specifically, one on the gun and a spare. However, they have no size indicators (small, medium, large etc) and they both appear and feel identical according to me and several of my shooting buddies. If that's so, why did Sig include two twin grips? I'm not a Sig fanboy so I'm kind of in the dark...

They are different, or should be. I have 2 & they both came with the larger size installed. The wife wanted the smaller one installed. The difference is obvious to me.

There is a part number molded into the grip.

Hmm, maybe they just feel the same to me and I'm oblivious...is there an option for an even larger grip or do they give you the biggest one available? Would I have to look at Hogues and other aftermarket grips?

I don't think there is an aftermarket for the SP2022. (I've looked)

There are part numbers available somewhere. I COULD be wrong but I believe there are 3 sizes available and I believe that the small & medium come with the gun.

Or you could try one of those slip on rubber band thingies with finger grooves.

Are these different than those found on the SIGPro 2340? My 2340 came with two grips: one highly textured and one smooth and a bit larger?

There are two or three styles of large grips, all having a rubbery feel. I find them to be way too large taking a very comfortable gun to a point where the gun is a real handful. I have medium large hands and others with larger hands than mine have noted the same. You should be able to find the large grips on Gunbroker. One has a smooth texture, the other more pebbled and grippy, and there is even one with a two-toned color.

OK - so am I really weak or is there a trick to getting the grips off the gun? I have pushed/pulled/yelled/begged trying to get the grips off mine to try the other set. No luck. Any hints?

there's a tab on the inside rear of the magwell that has pushed in pretty hard before the grips will slide off.

FWIW, I have a set of Crimson Trace grips on my 2022, and really like the size and feel regardless of the laser.

Yup, it can be a real bare. I find that the grips come off the newer 2022 than with my 2340. You've got to really push that tab in and pull the grips down and away from the gun. Once you do it you will see that there is a best way to pull the grip off the gun. That said, it's never easy.
