Dear THR,
I have just received my Sig Sauer P226 Elite. I have TacOps as well, but this seems more feasible to carry. Feature wise I think share a lot, except the magazine capacity.

Which would you prefer, and what is your opinion on them?

Thanks

Can't comment on either but I own the P226 combat (threaded). It is a through and through combat weapon. Even though I like my Scandium Smith 1911pd better... If I had to bug out and could only bring 1 pistol with me... I'd have to choose the Sig Combat.

I'd choose the Elite over the Tac Ops.... but thats only based on what i've read and see.

I have the P226 Elite Stainless in 9mm. The Elite, which is supposed to have been through the custom shop, has failure to eject, failure to feed, and failure to lock back issues regardless of ammo type. My standard P226, also 9mm, has almost 3000 trouble-free rounds through it.

My opinion on Sig Sauer handguns is that they are great guns. I suppose I got a lemon. For carry purposes, my opinion is the P226 is too heavy unless it has an aluminum frame.

You must have gotten a lemon.

Tomorrow I will try to take picture and post it here.

Indeed. There is no reason a Sig Sauer P226 Elite Stainless should be anything other than flawless. It is supposed to be the top of the 226 line. Generally, they are great guns but this one slipped through the cracks. The only model from Sig that I have owned that had generally had problems was the P238. The 226's are good.

Thank you Dcarch.

I have noticed and read on Sig Sauer site that size wise they are identical, but the longer grip on the TacOps.

However, I noticed two more things. 1. The trigger reset on Elite I find slightly shorter. 2. The trigger itself on TacOps is better because on elite its thin and leaves room for a finger bite when pulled.
