I have come to the conclusion I need a 22. Does anyone have any opinions on the Sig Trailside. I really like the looks of this gun. But is it on par with the Mark II and the Buckmark? Or is it all show and no go?

I'll start. I've got a 4" Target model.

Pros:
Accurate. Really nice trigger. Just feel good to me. I think it look cool too :)
Mine shoots about everything I've tried. Won't see them everywhere.

Cons:
Expensive compared to most. Some history of reliability issues. My won't
lock open on the last shot and I've been meaning to send it in. I read they're
not shipping the neat blue target grips anymore.

Thanks for the reply Steve. I knew I should have tried out the raced out one the guy had at the range the other day. I saw that gun and wow it was love at first site at least as far as looks go.

I have a Ruger Mark II MK6 and love it, but I picked up a Trailside at the last local show and it has a great feel. I haven't had a chance to shoot one, unfortunately.

The Mark II is pretty much bullet-proof (pardon the pun). I have the tapered barrel (easier for my kids to handle), but I have heard good things about the bull barrel too.

Good luck!

I was on the verge of picking one up a couple of years ago. The that approved list stuff started here in CA. I haven't even seen one since :( They've never made it on the list :( :(

Peet,
Yea, they do look pretty cool. I've heard others disagree but I got it
for the trigger. Light, crisp, no creep. Sometimes I get what first appears
to be a FTF, pull the trigger and nothing happens. I finally realized it was
me. There's so little rearward motion when it fires I was forgetting to let
off enough to allow it to reset. Had me scratching my head for a bit.
They are somewhat expensive for a .22. The target model gives you
adjustable sights but adds $100 I think. Use to get the blue laminated
grips too but no more. I'd stick with the standard. Some people didn't
like the blue grips and you can pick those up later if you like. I've never
seen used ones for less than $350 either. Someday I'd like a 6" if I found
a deal.

I'd have bought one, but couldn't find a dealer who'd ever heard of the target model, then read about reliability problems at thefiringline.com. Now I'm thinking about a Volquartsen remanufactured Ruger.
