Does anyone have or know anything about these scopes? I have asked for catologs from several companies,it took thiers 2 days to get here. They always answer my e mails .I'm really thinking of buying one of thier scopes.
If they are as good as getting back to me they would have a great warranty.
I just wonder how they are optically and holding zero

One of the better scope companies out there with probably the best customer service in the industry. The SII are very good entry level scopes and are about equal to the Monarchs, 4200's and VX-III's. The SII Bigsky's are a step up from there and the SIII's will stand up there with any of the other high end scopes. I see they have an SI line I have never had my hands on one so I can't comment.

Recently bought my 3rd Sightron scope. So far they are doing good. Quality, reliability, and tracking have been excellent.

Next to leupold Sightron is my 2nd favorite scope manufacturer.

Even the s1 is loaded down with quality and features that takes 2x the $ to match from other manufacturers

I have also found some Pentax Lightseekers with 30 mm tubes for about same price, anyone know anything about how a Pentax is

They used to be made by Burris now who knows who makes them and most if not all are made in China. You are better off sticking with Sightron, Bushnell 4200/6500, Nikon Monarch, Leupold VX-3 (or wait for the upgrade to VX-2), Vortex Viper etc. Pentax are not worth it especially the chinese crap.

Have an SII on my CZ 452 and shoot silhouette with it. Great scope. Clear optics and I like the 1/8 clicks. Terrific value in scopes.

I ve never saw a sightron but heard good things,Optically how close are they to Burris and Leupold Id get either the 3X12 or 4 X16 They sent me a coupon if I buy for 50 bucks back if I buy.

Well there are many different levels of quality in Leupold and Burris from total garbage to great. I don't think there is a bad Sightron though they are all great scopes for the money. Dollar for Dollar you will probably do better to get a Sightron. Unless you are worried about resale then Leupold is the way to go but you will pay a lot more money for the same level of scope from Sightron.

how much are you looking to spend and what are you using it for?

If you do a search on the word 'Sightron' in the Firearms Accessories forum, you'll pull lots of feedback.

question which would I be better off to do say buy Sightrons sII big sky or the SIII thier top of the line,or buy Kahles KX bottom of the line

I have a Sightron SII on my bolt gun, and I'm very happy with it.

I'd like to put in a good word for their service folks, too. I called a few years back with some questions, and they took the time to answer them thoroughly. That's a big plus in my book.

Buy the Sightron SIII or SII bigsky. Kahles are great but if you ever have a problem your warranty may not be not worth the paper it is printed on (depending who the importer is these days). Also Kahles supposedly is about to be sold so who knows what that will mean. Sightron on the other hand is the industry leader in CS. The Kahles glass may be better than the SII but the SIII is probably equal to Kahles or very close. Make sure you are getting the latest SIII and SII bigsky models (they have been out long enough so you should have no problem) as they are really a step up as far as turrets and glass goes.

I learned about Sightron several years ago...

From the benchrest gang.

I have a few now, and they're giving my Leupold scopes a serious run for the money.

The only problem is that Sightron has noticed the increase in popularity, too. Their prices are climbing, accordingly... :(

Sightrons are the best value I've ever found in a scope. Durable, track well, optically superior, the whole nine. All at a nice price. Well, to be fair, I'm speaking of the SIIs. Never had an SI or SIII, but the SIIIs are supposed to be an incredible value as well, and as good as you can get before hitting the top level Leupolds and Euro glass. Can't say enough good about Sightron scopes.

The Sightron SIII line are primo scopes at a great price. The glass is ultra clear and the tracking is rock solid and very nice turrets. The Big Sky SII is very close second but the turrets are not as nice as the SIII scopes. They are smaller and the click adjustments are very close and not as sharp. It is very easy to over or under dial and have to back up.

Hmm, didn't you get the two SIII's you ordered?

I did get one of those, and couldn't be happier with it. The second day I had it out there were a couple old guys I ended up shooting with. They had all nightforce, and ended up letting me shoot a few. Really nice scopes, but I would say the SIII is every bit as good, especially if cost is a consideration. I will buy another, even if I have to pay full price next time.

I have a SII 1.5-6x42mm on my Remington 700 in .30-06, and it works great. The brand was recommended by a friend when I was looking for a scope a couple years ago and it's a really great scope. I looked at a couple different scopes in the same price range, but it was a totally different quality range, and the Sightron was far ahead. It was really a throw up between a Leupold VXII or the Sightron, but the SII just seemed to be the best value. It was also on sale for $200.

do the Sightrons SII Big Sky and the SIII use the same optics

They have different coatings . The BS SII has very clear glass and is very close to the SIII optics. The SIII has a 30mm tube, is heavier & a step above the Big Sky SII scopes. I own both.

Sightron is offering a $50 rebate on their Big Sky SII scopes. The BS SII 4.5-14X44 MD side parallax adj is a nice scope.

Max i'm looking for a scope to go on my 257 WM it will be used to deer hunt and maybe a few groundhogs 2 i;m most looking at are the SII Big Sky 4.5x14x42 with HHR
and the SIII 3.5x10x44 LRMD

From what I can tell they both use the same glass and coatings I did not look at the models specifically so see if different erector set's are used between the two lines. I assume there is some difference setting the 2 lines apart but I don't think it is the actual glass and coatings used because they both use ZACT-7 coatings. Though in the catalog it says that the SII uses ZACT-7 on all internal surfaces but it does not specify for SIII scopes. So there may be a difference.
