I'm looking for an Internet resource that:

1. Access police reports, court rulings or other official documents that are used in gun-related occurrences.

AND/ OR

2. Access government and/or university studies, reports, statistics involving guns.

AND/ OR

3. Access news stories from news agencies (paper or digital)

I'm looking for credible sources for research regarding anything potentially linkable to RKBA. Basically I'm looking for online research tools beyond Google. I know certain institutions and universities have non-google-able resources that are accessible via Internet.

Any professors, students, or otherwise knowledgeable folks have any ideas?

(note to mods: not sure where this post was appropriate but seems like a good place to start was here - please move as necessary)

A lot of court systems have files that are accessible online to authorized users. In general, authorized users are court officers, law enforcement officers and the like. You have to BE in the system to GET into the system.

Those systems that do allow public access CHARGE for the privilege. Some fees are as low as $30 a month.

Check your local courthouse and / or court website. You'll likely have to know some specifics about the case to pull records. Most court documents are public record, and available for view.

I would suggest trying a Lexus/Nexus search
LexisNexis would likely produce better results. ;)

inclinebench is correct, you really should get access to LexisNexis for much of what you want. It would also be helpful to get access to databases such as JSTOR, Proquest, and EBSCO. Most public libraries don't have access to them, but any university library should have these and more.

Others have already mentioned the most used (and likely best resources) but don't completely rule out Google.

Google has their "Google Scholar" which has a large cache of court decisions, laws, and scholarly works. It's certainly not as good as the previously mentioned databases, but it does have it's uses. And it's free! :)
