looking for a new CC for the wife but it must be a SA. She can't handle my Ruger LC9 due to the double action being too stiff for her. So far only seeing the Sig P380. Who knows of any others out there?

Look into the Bersa Thunder 380. The DA/SA is nice, and the Double Action is a very easy pull. I carry one, and it is a very reliable firearm, and with Underwood Ammo makes the .380 into a nice defense pistol.

Other than that you are looking at the Sig P238, or the Browning 1911-380.

I second the Bersa thunder or Bersa CC.

There also is the Tanfoglia Witness Pavona that can be carried cocked and locked or in DA/SA mode.

The Pavona is a direct copy of the CZ75B, but in 380 with a shortened 3-1/2" barrel and a double stack magazine that gives it a 14+1 capacity.

I have a Colt Mustang .380 that I love. Being a locked breech the recoil is far more mild than straight blowback .380 pistols, it's VERY accurate and has been 1000% reliable.

Bersa and Sig are the two I own. The Sig is nicer but the Bersa is much more affordable. Both are good shooters and easy to operate.

CZ 83- da/sa with a safety. Can be carried cocked and locked. Very fun pistol to shoot and shot well enough to make me look decent.

Besides the Mustang, Colt also produced the Government Model .380. Single-action, locked breech, and carries 7+1 of .380 ACP.

Glock 42

It's not a "real" single action but it has a short trigger pull and reset so it might work. My wife has one and loves it. She's got short stubby fingers and the trigger still isn't a problem.

You can also install something like this:

Be careful if you do though, whatever holster you get, you'll want to make sure it covers the trigger 100% (and is made from a solid material not something soft), you don't want to lighten the trigger too much on a pistol that doesn't have an external safety...

I guess I'd want to know about the carry method, there are few ways that I'd carry a SA pistol and primary would be that it be condition 1 which for me allows only holstered belt carry.
Purse or pocket carry of a SA in C1 just won't happen for me or anyone I'd be getting a gun for.

The Bersa DA trigger is very easy pull Have taught several women to use and several ladies on my Bersa board carry one.

Eagle Imports has just reintroduce new copy of the old LLama 380 1911 type pistol . Its made by Metro Arms in Philippines for Eagle who now own the Llama name and rights . Look for one of those
I have 2 older 1 series Colt Mustangs nice pistols and never been a problem
Sig makes a Mustang copy also Both the Colt and Sig are expensive.

Carry in a pocket holster Both the Sig and Colt have firing pin block They won't fire till trigger pulled In pocket holster trigger protected Safe to carry. Lot of people carry both every day cocked and locked . You can carry hammer down and thumb cock on the draw . Some do that also. That way my on made in Italy no safety 950 Beretta is carried. Owner manual even says that to cock on drawing .

Bersa is the best. Cocking the hammer for the first shot is easy, and the hammer drop lever is safer than a single action. Also, very comfortable to shoot, and reasonable

The Colt Mustang, Sig P-238, and Kimber Micro are all very similar mini clones of the M1911.

My 1980's vintage Mustang is as reliable as a light switch. I do not know about the current manufactured Mustangs or the polymer frame version.

My first year production model of the Sig P-238 had some teething problems. It is now fixed. I understand Sig has fully corrected the first year faults.

I have no experience with the Kimber Micro--yet.

The Colt Government 380 preceded the Mustang production in the 1980s. A bit larger than the Mustang. Also, good shooters.

Colt M1908 pistols are great shooters and an SA pistol. It's the 380 ACP version of the M1903. These are a bit larger than Colt Government 380. I believe the M1908 was manufactured up to around WWII.

The Beretta M84 (double stack magazine) or the M85 (single stack magazine) are SA/DA pistols but can be carried cocked with the safety on, at least the 1980's versions. My M84 shoots about anything that I have fed it. With the open top slide, jams on ejection are virtually non-existant.

Getting a holster may be a doozy ( a simple pocket type holster will fit I'm sure) but the Beretta Model 1934 could be a good option too. They're quite classy, hefty (helping to soak up that snappy recoil). They aren't terribly hard to find and I think it's a good alternative. A Savage model 1907 could be a unique choice as well (again holsters will be an issue).

Cfullgraf has the answer as I have all three, Colt Mustang, Kimber Micro and Sig P 238 are all basically the same pistol and mags interchange between the three. The new Remington RM 380 is a DAO pistol with about a ten pound pull, not much for average male but some girls will find it difficult. Other than that it is a great carry piece as is the Bodyguard and LCP.
As for working the slide my Kimber is the easiest and the RM 380 the hardest.

My current .380s are two SAO (Colt Mustang and SIG P238), and one KelTec P3AT. The Mustang and P238 are by far my favorites as they are easy to shoot, extremely reliable, and very accurate.

M¥ wife chose the the Bersa Thunder .380 after she tried half a dozen .380 and 9mak pistols including some that cost twice as much. It's light, accurate, is comfortable to shoot, has a very good trigger on it and is inexpensive. Most of all she shoots it well.

Best bang for the buck that we own in .380.

Now I shoot the five she rejected.

Shot my new Tanfoglio Witness Panova this am.

I really like my Bersa Thunder, but this pistol easily outclasses the Thunder.

The trigger is just outstanding, sights are excellent and recoil even for my 83 year old joints is a non issue with this pistol.

I purchased this pistol because I wanted a high capacity 380, but never expected what a fine pistol the Panova turned out to be. It is easily the most accurate pistol I own now.

I don't expect it to happen due to the ratio of cost of production versus likely sales, but I wish Sig would make a "government model" P238 with about 1/2 inch more barrel and a seven round grip length. Heck, make one in 9mm, too, while at it. :)

Beretta 84B or 84BB. Both can be carried cocked and locked or DA/SA.
