I will add this to the mix.
I built this 36 cal. under hammer flintlock several years ago out of scrap and extra parts I had in my shop.
Just to see if I could.
It works good but is kind of front heavy.
It does get some strange looks at the range though!

ive heard that a flintlock will fire upside down and I own a flintlock rifle in 45c so never tried this does it do pretty good??

Yup. In principle, the sparks should be going upward, the priming powder falls downward, and all the ironmongery is moving in the vertical plane of the barrel. Perfect setup for a pistol.

Yes, it is a Howdah....sorta....nominally a 20 gauge, it really is more an 18 gauge....a bit on the small side for a Howdah.
It is a fun shooter at this point......when I first had it, it had absolutely the worst trigger (two of them) that I have ever used...Took two hands to fire the thing. After a lot of work on the locks, the poundage is down to a useable 10 lbs.

SC 45-70: Another beauty. Question.....where did you get the internal trigger spring for that lock? I have another H&A underhammer and it needs an internal spring.

My pistolrifle does not use a H&A type trigger spring.
I made the action and made it to used a plunger and spring that also works as a trigger over travel stop.

Note the small plunger behind the trigger. It's sits in a blind hole drilled into the action.

SC- Thanks for the contact info. I will give them a call.
Your set up.....that is a coil spring then? Simple but clever idea and easy enough to do. I may just look at the H&A that needs the spring....see if there is a possible area to install a set up like that. What did you use for the plunger?
What is the trigger pull weight (if you have it handy)?

The plunger is made from 1/4 inch 304 stainless steel round bar. I bored a bind hole in the plunger and inserted a coil spring. With the plunger bottomed out in the action I trimmed it until I had the over travel correct.

Trigger pull (on my cheap gauge) is about 2 3/4 lbs.
