TinyGnat and I had a sort of "arms of the communist party" night at the range last night with my modded SKS, CZ-52, his Tokarev, etc.

Ran the most back-to-back rounds through the SKS ever for me and finally quit when the breakfree started smoking and the foregrip got too hot to hold :D

The Tokarev is a neat gun and I understand why TG likes it but I'll stick to my CZ-52 (Gosh I love that thing).

About the only bummer was that somehow the fiberoptic part of my Williams Firesite came out. TG found it but I can't make it stay put so I guess I'll have to call Williams and ask how to fix it.

Yeah,
That was a fun commie night on the range. Funny thing was, I did a Commie History trip to the range that Tuesday night as well, shooting the 1895 Nagant, Tokarev TT33, and Makarov. The only handgun I am missing from this I beleive is the S&W No. 3 breaktop in .44 Russian. Any other suggestions?

Thanks!

CZ-52 im interested in building one of thiesr now ( literaly decided a week ago.) how did it shoot?

Darn, I forgot to stop by the VCDL booth today. Anyhow, took my bud to buy his first pistol. He picked up a new M&P40 yesterday and we hit the NRA range today to give it a whirl. Fantastic pistol. Shoots just as soft as my G19! :what:

My SKS Paratrooper is down for a party anytime so drop me a line. Besides, you guys owe me a P-3AT whirl. ;) I resisted picking up a hard chrome today at the show. :(

My CZ-52 has an aftermarket machined firing pin and a replacement 16.5 lb spring and it shoots very nicely. I swear if that gun had an ambi-safety I'd CCW it every now and then. (Especially since TinyGnat found me some JHP for it :D )

Kony,

Will definitely have to meet up. This week is bad. I start my Grad math class tomorrow night and I am tied up through the weekend with other activities. It's probably gonna be next Monday night or so before I can meet up with you at the NRA range. I won't speak for ZeSpectre, but I know he's usaully up for meeting folks as well. He's a good guy to have at the range with you.

Sounds good to me! Weekdays are usually bad for me because work keeps me out late enough that the range is usually packed but sometimes I end my day early. Just drop me a pm whenever you guys decide to head over. Always nice to meet other locals!

Ammo for that 1895 Nagant ...

Do you reload? If so, where do you get the brass, and is it fairly straightforward to reload? Odd cartridge :) I had a fun time last year in the course of a mock trial trying to introduce a big diagram of one of these; a witness for the prosecution claimed that my (completely innocent ;)) client had supplied to the witness a silenced Smith & Wesson .357 revolver with which to do in my client's wife.

So I wanted to do a compare and contrast showing just why revolvers are hard to quiet, with the Nagant as a strange-oh example which actually *can* be.

If you *don't* reload, same question almost -- where do you get the ammo, and how extortionate are the prices?

TG219, Uberti makes copys of the No. 3 in .44 Russian, several importers including Navt Arms, EMF, Taylors, and Cimarron Arms.

yhtomit,

I don't reload the cartridge, yet. I currently stock about 23 calibers that I shoot and that's starting to be a real budget buster. I have some Fiocchi brass that I have been holding onto, and I hear that trimmed .32-20 brass works real well for reloading. For now, I shoot .32 S&W Long out of my Nagants for Cowboy Action Shooting, but not that regularly as the forcing cone tends to get fouled pretty quickly.
For cheap stuff, I go to Southern Ohio Gun It's 14 bucks for 40 rounds and that is the cheapest I have ever seen it.
