Comparing the OAL and BL of the Russian SKS and AK47 on world.guns.ru,
SKS: 1022mm/~40.25" OAL & 520mm/~20.5" BL
AK47: 870mm/~34.25" OAL & 415mm/~16.25" BL
I noticed that the SKS is roughly 6" longer even though the longer barrel only accounts for ~4". Where does the extra length come from? Does the SKS have a longer stock?
