Sleeping With or Near a Gun

I keep a loaded shotgun in the closet at the foot of the bed and a pistol (my Ruger P89 for now, my 1911 once I am more comfortable with it) within reach (in the nightstand drawer, usually)

I also have been known to reset alarms, answer phones, hold conversations with the wife, and go get a drink of water without actually waking up.

Have kept a loaded gun under my pillow for quite some time.
Like some, I'm a lite sleeper and wake coherent.

My dogs are the first warning something is wrong by coming next to the bed and softly growling until I get up. Dogs are a beautiful thing.

After reading many stories of home invasions, there is no time to fumble with safes, locks or drawers. That is the only scenario that I worry about. The dogs will take care of any common B and E guy.

A couple of lites are always on inside the house so I don't chase shadows.

I usually keep a Glock in its holster under the night stand next to the bed. I also have a flashlight, 12 ga. Mossberg, and .223 Bushmaster within reach under my bed.

sw99 .40 with nothing in the pipe, in the night stand at all times. not really bad for opening drawers in my sleep. cant sleep with it as I roll around too much and id never find it if I needed it. if I had my old bed id keep either the mosin or the hi point carbine on the strap over the corner post, but current bed has no post to hang a gun from. I occasionaly put one of the carbines under the bed....just in case i gota stick a pig with the mosin or scare away some tatical poser with my ugly hi point :neener:
