Small Rifle Primers

And you wonder why our country is in the crapper. Americans knowingly ripping each other off, and Americans willing to get ripped off.

Man, I just bought 1000 large rifle primers from a local gun shop for $22! That's completely outrageous! You will always find those types that are willing to take advantage of people, regardless of the situation.

Take advantage of people? Heck they seem willing, the seller already has a bid.

Wonder what dumb a$$ will be the so called WINNER. What a joke.

Heck they seem willing
That was my thought. Sure, some jerk wants to sell his old CCI primers for $50, but someone is willing to pay even more!

He got $70.50 for them when they sold! Now let's see, if I sell my primers for ten cents apiece, plus shipping, I can buy a new gun. Heck, I could buy a new house....

I wonder how he's going to ship them? You have to go through the Hazmat classes to be able to ship via UPS or Fedex, and USPS won't accept them.

It's crazy, on both ends of that transaction, that's for sure.

I also recently saw that someone had a box of the .38 Special +P+ Treasury Loads from the 1970's on sale for a starting bid of $90.00 on Gun Broker. I've got a full case of that ammunition..........

Fred

I'm not going to do this, but lets just say that I decided to put 1000 Federal Small Pistol primers on GB with a starting bid of $.01 and no reserve. They get bid up to $100. Am I taking advantage of anyone?

After all, I was willing to take $.01 if that is all they sold for. The fact that people are too stupid, impatient, or lazy to shop around and find primers for $25 or $30/1000 isn't my fault.

What do folks think?

um, those are $30 in my parts. $40 at gander mountain. But that buyer is going to pay a little over $85!!!! IDIOT!

If I sell the 1k large pistol primers on GB for that price I could go to the local shop and buy 2k with the profits :D

Auctions and auction sites are like that. Especially with the current shortage.
"...difference between a Remington 6 1/2 primer and a 7 1/2?..." A #7 1/2 is a benchrest primer. Supposedly more consistent ignition.

I saw some Winchester Small Rifle primers go for over 100 a little while back.

Heres some more to look at

If you look through them closely you can see than two of these auctions were won by the same bidder and sold by the same seller so interpret that how you may.

What,
the hell,
is wrong with these people?

Maybe I could sell my converted S-12 for One ounce of Plaitnum, or at least an ounce of gold.
Money is no good any more, this is proof.

With hazmat and shipping they will be close to 100. Unless they don't claim it as hazmat. I don't think the guy selling them took advantage of anyone. The guy buying them just has more money than smarts.

A couple of important points to ponder.

I was just looking at the Gunbroker primer auctions out of curiosity. I saw those crazy prices and thought...hmmmm...if I could get my hands on primers, would it be worth it to profit a little from those PT Barnum chicken littles who are willing to bid those prices?
Here's what I came up with in my quick research.
1. I only saw one guy who was charging more than like $15 for shipping, or "buyer pays actual shipping"
2. Apparently, the average "Joe Blow" cannot ship Hazmat materials without pretty extensive training, even if you go through UPS. So even if you got them at a "decent" price, paying the Hazmat from a dealer, there is no way to re-ship them to someone who would win your auction.
3. That means these guys are skirting the legalities on the shipping.
4. The fines if caught doing so is upwards of $250,000.00, and the US Postal inspectors have one of the highest conviction rates of any law enforcement agency.

So, unless someone is more knowlegeable than me on this, and has acutal "legal" experience in doing it, this doesn't seem like either a good or safe investment.

That being said, I did find an outlet today that at least lists Winchester primers as "in stock" in all sizes, SP,LP,LP,LR, both 1,000 and 5,000 packs. I am assuming this because all the other brand primers on their site are listed as not in stock.
I already have a couple thousand of what I need, so I didn't jump on it. For those of you who are looking for a source, I'm posting it below. Let us know if indeed you were able to score any here. It'll also be interesting to see how long their stock stays in stock.

Guys about 2 weeks ago I saw a guy on GB buy 1,000 LR magnum primers for $200 plus shipping. ReloaderFred, I don't think these people are shipping them hazmat, and if they get caught it will be costly. Mac

I just bought 5000 Wolf small rifle magnum primers for $19 per 1000.....I wonder what those would go for on Gunbroker? I can't believe how desparate people are getting for ammo and reloading supplies....

Here's a perfectly legal scam...

  • You put 1000 Winchester WSR primers up for auction on GunBroker. $70 + 22.50 Hazmat.
  • When they sell, have rickomatic's link at T&T Sales send the primers. $29 + 22.50 Hazmat.
  • You don't have to deal with hazmat training because T&T already does it.
  • You make $40 per thousand, sitting at home.
  • If the auction doesn't sell, you lose nothing.

People can't even be nice anymore either. I have been needing 380 acp for a few months, I have none, and found 6 boxes for 18.00 ea at a local store, so I was gonna pick up 2 ( thats all I needed ). There was another fella there that was needing 380 also. He said " I'll take all six". I said " hey man, can you do with 5 and let me get one?". Nope he replied and then left. The dealer said to me " That was S*!t".... I get out in the lot to leave, and there he comes," Look, you can have one for 35.00"... I told him to get the hell away from me. :cuss:

ATA,

I would have kicked that guy in his left front tooth and rammed the box of ammo up his a$$.
