Everyone seems to love their older Smith and Wesson autoloaders, but I didn't have one. That made me a very sad panda. I happened to be looking around and saw that my favorite surplus seller on Gunbroker had one in nice shape that was inexpensive. I went ahead and blew $245 on it (plus whatever the shipping was).
Is this what they call a Generation 3? It's a little bit smaller than what I would call a full-sized service pistol. The frame is alloy. It came with one 15-round magazine. It's a 9mm, so now I have eight of them. (Perhaps that's a sign that I have a problem.) The sights are good. The DA trigger is long, but not stiff. The SA trigger is nice.
My 13-year-old daughter wanted to go to the range with me, so I brought it along. She hated it, shot it once and handed it back to me. She is spoiled. I also brought two fine S&W target revolvers, a Browning Buck Mark, and a Star Super B. She indicated that all of the others had much better triggers and fit her hands better (we are a family of giants and she is already 6'2").
I thought it shot just fine. In fact, since we're having a coldish winter and I have been wearing a jacket or button-down shirt over another shirt, it's occurred to me that I could carry the 915 almost as easily as my Glock Model 43. Could anyone recommend a good OWB holster? I use a leather DeSantis for my Glock.
