Everyone seems to love their older Smith and Wesson autoloaders, but I didn't have one. That made me a very sad panda. I happened to be looking around and saw that my favorite surplus seller on Gunbroker had one in nice shape that was inexpensive. I went ahead and blew $245 on it (plus whatever the shipping was).

Is this what they call a Generation 3? It's a little bit smaller than what I would call a full-sized service pistol. The frame is alloy. It came with one 15-round magazine. It's a 9mm, so now I have eight of them. (Perhaps that's a sign that I have a problem.) The sights are good. The DA trigger is long, but not stiff. The SA trigger is nice.

My 13-year-old daughter wanted to go to the range with me, so I brought it along. She hated it, shot it once and handed it back to me. She is spoiled. I also brought two fine S&W target revolvers, a Browning Buck Mark, and a Star Super B. She indicated that all of the others had much better triggers and fit her hands better (we are a family of giants and she is already 6'2").

I thought it shot just fine. In fact, since we're having a coldish winter and I have been wearing a jacket or button-down shirt over another shirt, it's occurred to me that I could carry the 915 almost as easily as my Glock Model 43. Could anyone recommend a good OWB holster? I use a leather DeSantis for my Glock.

Those are great, underrated guns. Had two back in the nineties and foolishly sold or traded them. When shopping for leather, anything that will fit a 5906 should work for the 915. I’m a Desantis and Galco fan. Congrats on the new gun.

Nice pistol. Great price too. I have 2 659s that are all stainless.

IIRC S&W came out with those in the 90s when Glock was underselling most. The 915 was the economy model meaning no ambidextrous safety, fixed sights, and Matt finish.

Holsters for any 59 series Smith will work with that gun.
