i know that S&W's warranty states that it will repair defects for the life of the original owner

i am currently considering purchasing one of two used S&W revolvers

my question is whether anyone has had problems getting S&W to cover defects with revolvers they purchased used

what is S&W's practical policy concerning warranty work on used revolvers?

thanks for the responses

I believe the warrenty covers guns from 1989 to present. Give them a call, they have great customer service.

I brought in a revolver that was made in 72 a few months back. They had a look at it and said" this is a warrantee issue, it will be no cost to you". They even had to make the part because the were no more on hand.

I had just bought the gun.

Beat that....,
Bob

I bought an old M&P that had timing and lock-up issues. I called S&W's Customer Service who told me they would not have parts to fix it. I sent it in anyway. They fixed the problems and did not charge me anything for it. That's my only experience, but IMO that was exceptional Customer Service. They certainly had no obligation to do anything, much less do it for free.
