Smith & Wesson Model 586 .357 Magnum

My brother has a Model 586 that he bought years ago. He thinks he remembers that there was a recall on this model once upon a time. Does anyone have any information on this?

Back in the late 80`s S&W had a recall on all L frames If I rember right it was a recoil pad problem? can`t be for sure anyhow they were marked with a M on the inside of the crane after they were fixed...

The recall was on the 586s and 586-1s and the 686 equivilents. The bushing around the firing pin hole had to be replaced and as pointed-out by Jon the modified guns were stamped with an "M" next to the serial number in the crane. S&W will still do this for you for free.

Hey Blue4, I just sent (about 2 months ago) a non-dash 686 into S&W. I called them first, they mailed out a pre-paid UPS label, I sent it in and had my pistola back in a week.
