So I have like $4k into my AR now...

i find it ironic that you say you want the best $200 meal but it appears from the pics and video, the vehicles in the yard and housing that you live in are far from the best.
What a judgmental post. Where I come from it is considered poor taste to criticize a man's home regardless where he lives. How a man chooses to spend his money is up to him, it's his for crying out loud. I wish I had the rifle. I wouldn't spend that much to have it but I wouldn't toss it in the trash if I had it. Give him a break.

I think people need to stop being overly critical with opinions.

we all know that you don't need all that stuff on an AR, but it sounds kind of hypocritical that we as people who keep having to fight against people who think we 'don't need the second amendment' would actually turn around and do the same to each other

I mean, sheesh.

all in all, very nice AR, but holy crap... way too rich for my blood. Wouldnt mind having it though.

People lighten up! The man has a really nice AR, one *I'd* certainly like to have. I can't believe I actually waded through page after page of people actually insulting the OP for spending more money than they would.

Those of you bashing the man for spending $4K on a rifle, I certainly hope you've never spent $35K on a car or truck or $15K on a boat.

I love them, and that's what counts.
EX-ACT-LY. Nice rifle, and thanks for posting pics.

Amen. Good job. More power to ya - all that.

I *would* love to have a rifle like that, but for one thing: When it's that expensive, I'd want to keep it in the safe all the time, not out. But, it's a self-defense carbine, so I'd want it out of the safe when I'm at home. Conflicting goals and pain in the rear to take in and out. So as a result, I want fairly plain jane guns for leaving outside the safe all the time, for home defense. Now if it's NOT a home defense tool, then perfect. Just leave it in the safe until range time. :)

I find it quite bizarre that people are jumping on him for putting together a suh-weet AR.

Where did you see insults? Mostly this thread is just full of people saying they wouldn't spend that much on an AR. So what?

Ummm.... see my previous post. I see Desensitization 101 has went well for you.

Kewl.

Lots of guns cost that much or more. 50 Barrett, or a custom bolt gun. Hell with the Swarovski, Kahles, Zeiss, or Schmidt & Bender, the scope is 2500$.

I'd love to have a Sisk rifle, but his prices are 5k. Not happening anytime soon. Maybe after my daughter is out of school.

The AR is like a hot rod. You can shadetree bolt on a lot of parts one piece at a time. I used to do it with my Mustang, before that computers, now the AR. But with a little one in the house, it happens a lot more slowly. heh!

Originally I bypassed this thread, but feel compelled to comment. Louisiana Carry, I'm glad that you're happy with your rather expensive AR. I'm sure you sacrificed a lot to have a firearm that you are proud of owning. I support your right to own a legal (for now) military style firearm.
Be aware though, the winds of change may be blowing against us gun lovers. If the anti-gun people get into power after the election, a real possibility, it is possible that military style firearms will be designated as "assault rifles" and banned or restrictions applied.
I could never justify spending that much money on any firearm, but that's just me. Good luck and good shooting!

I apologize if what I posted was offensive. I was just pointing out that there seemed to be a contradiction in what LC was saying about only getting the best in life. He said he likes to drop $200 a meal. I don't care what he does with his money. I was just observing that he seemed to not insist on the best of everything. There's nothing wrong with putting a lot of money in your rifle, I was just noting a contradiction in what he stated and what I observed.

I just spent a bunch of money on an AR and a second .22 lr upper for it. Is it too much? Well that's for me to decide. I don't have a huge house or BMW's, but my cars are paid for and I have a bunch of equity in the house and I'm satisfied with what I have. But I don't go around saying how high my standards are when I personally drive an old honda with 140,000 miles on it.

I would be willing to bet he would have gotten a different response from people if he had just showed off his rifle, posted the parts and cost without coming off as a little better than everyone while doing it.

I was referring to the myriad accusations and insinuations of mall-ninja-ness, Rambo-wannabe-ism, and suggestions of lack of shooting competence that have dragged down the level of discourse in this thread to well below typical THR quality.

Start over at page 1 and look for them. You'll see what I mean, I think.

I like it.

What? The myriad accusations and insinuations of mall-ninja-ness, Rambo-wannabe-ism, and suggestions of lack of shooting competence that have dragged down the level of discourse in this thread to well below typical THR quality or the rifle?:D

243,

I had no previous intention of discussing my home or vehicles, but since you are still here- my vehicles were chosen with great care. If it is my wife's Grand Prix SE you saw in a pic on my web site- she searched for that car for three months, and even drove halfway across TX to find it. For whatever reason, she likes that year and model. So, obviously, that is what is "best" for her.

I do not know what you have seen about my house, but we also spent two years trying to find a place like what we have now- a pond, room for our horses, outside the city but accessible to everything, a shop, etc. I can't say I understand your problem.

I already apologized for posting prices. I was just surprised when I stopped and noticed what it had added up to, and I naively thought that others might have had the same types of realizations looking over some of their purchases or through their safes. I do not think that I am better than anyone. Well, better looking, maybe, but y'all can't help that (that was a joke, son).

Oh, and several of you on this page are why I still post here.

You are stand up people. I am not talking about whether or not people like my rifle- I am talking about respecting others' decisions. I am big into the whole "liberty" thing, and that is what it is all about.

Oh, and for any newcomers to this thread that won't die, here is a repost of the vid about the rifle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OLZM1dS8ilo&feature=user

Well, it's quite obvious that you're better looking than me. :D I didn't mean to insult your house, cars or what have you. Sorry if I came across that way. I also play guitar and it's easy to find yourself spending a lot of money there for the next best amp or guitar. I know this BRD gets expensive fast. I think people should be happy with what they have if it's what they want and screw the nay sayers. I also don't like it when people say if you don't have what I have, you are less of a rifleman/guitarist/driver than I. I didn't get that from you except for the $200 comment, and I should have just let is slide since I don't think you meant it that way. I think you meant it as you like quality things as most of us do. My apologies.

I love looking at rifles and it's fun/scary to know the cost too. I'd love to shoot AR's with you. Come to VA sometime and we'll punch some holes in some paper.
