So I have like $4k into my AR now...

Don't take this the wrong way.

You rifle is very nice, and very pimped out, but I believe that reliability falls short with all the contraptions you have one your rifle.

I would rather have my 20" HBAR with A2 sights. This is only my opinion.

I have a total of $2,600 in both of these ARs

After taking one shooting class, I pretty now use a plain AR.

**** What A Waste Of Money! I Could Go To The Movies For Like A Year For That Much!!!
Your opinion. Personally, I think spending $8+ for 1 person, for one movie is a waste of money, when in 3 months, I can rent it for a couple dollars, or wait 6 months, and watch it on tv for free.:neener:

But, you are free to spend your money however you want, as am I , and as is the OP. I have never seen so many people make so much noise over money that isnt theirs to spend.

I think if spending $4000 on his rifle made him happy, and he can afford $4000, then more power to him.Doesnt affect me, or anyone else who posted here, one little bit.

Enjoy your rifle man!

Seems to me there is a difference between showing one's toy and yacking about how much money it cost. Generally, folks don't have a lot of use for those who jack their jaws about how much money they can spend on toys.

I don't think it makes me all Cool and Neatsy-poo just because I can afford a Purdey double. (If I had one, I'd most likely still go to my old Model 12 when I was serious about quail birds...)

I don't pay much attention to how much money someone has, or what they've spent it on. I'm much more impressed by what they can do with whatever they have...

:), Art

I don't care for folks that jack their jaw about what a waste of money they think it was and what they would have done with the money others have invested in their personal fire arms. I don't have much use for these folks.

You can have the most or least expensive fire arm on the planet and I'm not really interested until I know you are capable of using it to it's fullest.

H2O

I don't get it. What is the point of all that stuff anyway? Did it not work well enough out of the box? Spend your money where you want, but I don't think that's anything to brag about.
Know what I add to my AR's?
A light.

Guys, lay off the OP for spending a bunch. He took an expensive rifle, and changed some of the "stock" options. That costs money, which adds up. His AR probably cost 2x what mine does, and he's added 4x the amount into his than I have into mine, but y'know what? It's his money. Frankly, I wouldn't change damn near everything on an expensive rifle when I could've just upgraded it from the factory, but that's just me.

Look at it this way: I and several others are fine with a damn-near "stock" rifle, he obviously wasn't. At least he tumped $4,000 into the firearms industry, rather than something else.

Though, I think you did spend as much on your AR as I have my AR, my Smith and Wesson 620, my M1 Garand, SIG Mosquito, M1 Carbine, SKS, and all the ammo for the above that I've purchased over the last few years.

well, i DID break 1K on my GSG, but thats thanks to the optics and mount, but its the most fun plinker i have ever owned. i still have yet to find a real reason to put anything more than my bushnell holosight on my AR, still does as good as an EOTech and at about half the price. im not going to build something and dream the government personally asking ME to go as a one-man army into a hostile country taking only the weapons i own. making something showey-offey is one thing, paying my bills on time is another.

Like the vid dude..
But I have an AK so i don't have to worry about all that jib-jab..

Damn that is alot of stuff ( :

Miad grips and extra bolts aren't gonna do it... if you want to get that cost higher in a hurry, night vision has got to be the next place to look. :)

whenever i see excess like this it reminds me of an old all in the family episode when those guys broke into their house ; "what these white folk wont waste their money on"

I think it's a great rifle and I watched the youtube vid too. However, i find it ironic that you say you want the best $200 meal but it appears from the pics and video, the vehicles in the yard and housing that you live in are far from the best.

You should just say our priorities are in your rifle and leave it at that.

wow

You guys really take the cake

THR could be one of the best boards on the net, if it weren't for a great many of it's members.

That is sad.

Obviously, I am not referring to everyone on here, some people seem to treat people respectfully. That is nice, but the rest of you have given this place the reputation it has on other boards of being about the most pretentious place around.

What a shame. Saying you can't/shouldn't/don't need that stuff on your AR is like the Disastercrats saying you don't need a rifle like that at all. Let him have his fun; he's not hurting you and he's supporting a worthwhile industry. If you have a problem with his mindset or his reason, you are delusional and need to have your priorities straightened out. Fight the good fight, leave semantics for the talkers and the do-nothings.

Basically, what I'm saying is, with all due respect, shaddap ;).

P.S. Purdy rifle you got there.

It's not what I would spend my money on, but then I doubt the OP would have a half dozen Mosin Nagants and another half dozen AK's in his gun safe either, like I do. To each his own. If it makes you happy, you can afford it and it doesn't hurt anyone, then more power to you.

Yeah, I agree with Tarvis and the OP - you guys kinda sound jealous... I wish I had 4k to spend on my ar, and I can promise you I would if I had it, or if not the AR, then my NEXT AR, and my one day AK, and my one day precision rifle...

Sorry I got carried away there :)

But yeah I think too many of us THRers are drinkin the h8orade. Now I do agree with the ability questions - no point in owning all the rifles in the world if you can't use them... but that's not the perception I get from the OP, so I don't think it bears repeating any more.

Besides, it's fun to have the coolest gun at the range - you make more friends when people want to come see what you're shooting :)

half the crap we buy as gun nuts is hard to justify..

I don't do convoy or diplomat security training, I don't practice assaulting ships, and I don't own body armor with pouches for enough magazines for any engagement. I am a pilot, I fly airplanes for a living, I'm not a commando, and I act accordingly. It never ceases to amaze me that people will be an accountant or futures trader during the week, then spend the weekend learning how to transition to their sidearm with their weak arm because their strong arm and carbine were blown off by a grenade.

Haha, that right there made this thread worthwhile.

As far as I'm concerned, half the crap we buy as gun nuts is hard to justify. I can really only justify one rifle, pistol, shotgun to my wife, but what fun is that?!! Who cares if he kicks down doors with his 4k rifle or he just likes to look at it? We all have safe queens! If his safe queen ends up being an AR, fine, if it was some custom-engraved-AAAgrade-walnut-antique-one-of-a-kind-bolty I don't think anyone would be talking trash. Same thing.

OP,

Don't get defensive, people are just voicing their opinions. You have to remember what kind of site you are on. Most people here advocate practice and training over gadgets. $4K in crap stuck to a rifle is rediculous to most people, that should be obvious and not everyone will agree with you. That is how free speech works. I didn't see anyone attack you, although I did skim over the last 3 pages.

$4K BA/UU/R > $4K Gadgets

Enjoy your rifle. It's definately not my thing, but if you're happy with it, don't let what anyone says bother you.
