I have decided to add another stud to my stable, but I cannot make up my mind! I really want to get SigSauer GSR 1911, or a Springfield Loaded parkerized. I want a Goverment model, price range up to 1,000 dollars.

If you were shopping for this model, what would you buy and why?

I can care less about ambi safety, or the "cute" factor. By the way, the Taurus PT1911 is out of the question the, and any RI 1911. Not because they are not good, but because I've owned them.

I am just trying to figure out if Iam skipping anything.....lol...

Colt Combat Elite should be around $900 This is an 80 series gun run off their new CNC machines. It is a good example of a well made production line 1911. They are dimensionally pretty good. Better than SA. I like them better than Kimber. Less MIM better parts.

If you have a little more to spend look at the Dan Wesson Heritage. $1200. This is a 70 series patterned gun, no firing pin block, and IMHO has more attention to detail than the Colt. It is like a semi-custom gun on training wheels. It is so close but not quite up to the level of their Valor line $1500+ or a Les Baer Thunder Ranch which is now known as the 1911 Ultimate Tactical Carry 5" Model which will cost you $2,000. IMHO the extra $300 is money well spent here.

Thanks man, I was looking at SA RO, and really liked it. Thanks once agian for a great detail analysis of three guns.

STI Trojan, I have 5 1911s including Colt, SA, SIG and the STI is the best shooter. I am going to buy another 1911 this year and it will be another STI, probably, you never know what may become available. Of your choices I would go with a SIG 1911 (no rail).

For $1k i think you could get a nice original Colt.
Secondly id look at the S&W or the Sig.
But SA and STI both make great guns also.

Honestly there are so many choices, And if i was you id visit each makers website and see what hits your fancy. Then come back and make a thread asking peoples opinions on that gun.

I'm not gonna be of any help! I love SIG stuff-great quality, but have no experience with their GSR.

I do have a Springfield loaded. That, too, is a very fine piece of equipment. Can't go wrong with that.
