........ You beat me to it.. I also love Tommy Gunn's "tactical magnifying glass" suggestion. If Bug-A-Salt came out with a 127mm version it would probably be loaded with rock salt instead of table salt. Sort of like the difference between a load of "00 Buck" and a target load with #8 shot. This thread is hilarious and lots of fun. Keep 'em coming.Giant spray gun loaded with RAID!!!
Seeing as this is 1954, I would say the "gun" I want would be Gun, Anti-Tank, 90mm, M36, preferably mounted in a Tank, Full Track, 90mm, M47.So was re watching the classic Movie THEM and pretty much there were 3 guns that were the most effective against the ants.

So assuming you were on the Bug hunt which of these fine weapons would you like to have???
I personally like the irony of the flamethrowers. Kind of like a kid with a magnifying glass on
a sunny day.. They just carried such limited fuel.
Just as a side note I think a few of those jeeps they used in the movie should have mounted crew served weapons like they did in "Day the Earth Stood Still". A few of those belt fed Brownings (No matter which caliber) would have made one heck of an ant mess. In this case the Tombstone drum would have allowed you to make several messes..

Flamethrower.
Love 50's Sci Fi and THEM is one of my favorites with Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers and The Thing From Another World right up there with it.
Trivia time: Did you know that James Arness the FBI agent in THEM also was the alien in The Thing and is the brother of Peter Graves.
Plus he was in the US army and wounded in the Battle for Anzio. He had issues with his leg all the rest of his life.. Rewatch the movie when they are getting ready to Bazooka the ant hill you can tell he was not acting as he preparing the safety wire & plug on the rocket, looks like he had done that before. And he knew where the loader should be by the Bazooka.

Yeah, clearly that’s the hardest part of that plan. Everything else? Totally feasible. And (and this is the hard part) not have PETA shut you down..
Still laughing 15 mins after reading it..You know, if you really want to make some money, forget the ants. Figure out a way to bread real life Barney the purple dinosaurs and Teletubbies. Just don’t teach them to speak.
I’d pay a lot more to shoot one of them bastards than an ant.
I hear these work well on giant Mexican scorpions, so they ought to work well on smaller American giant ants:
