How ignorant, you can have three kids in China. You can have as many as you want. But you only get state subsidies for one. That has to be one of the most ignorant comments I have seen on this forum. And I have seen a few.

Like I said before you are not living up to your responsibilities as an American. You need to educate yourself !!!! That's the one good thing about ignorance. It's curable. Stupidity is not. Which one are you??

Yowser!

$30.00/pound for real Holy Black?

I just bought 8 pounds of Goex Cartridge for $16.00/pound last fall at my favorite store near Milwaukee. You suppose he's just giving the stuff away at a loss?

As long as he stocks it, I'll never go to Pyrodex or other BP substitutes. If anything, I know where there's several big weeping willow trees that need pruning, etc...

"To what extent is BP dangerous, do the restrictions make any sense, and what, if any, would?"

Black powder is a bit trickier to handle. It can be set off by static electricity, sneezing, all kinds of things ;).

From what I understand, more and more shipping and trucking outfits refuse to handle it, which might explain why it's not as easy to find.

Now, about China. Didn't I see on the news, just last week, that Chinese troops were mowing down Tibetan protesters? I'm not a fan of all of the over-regulation of everything in this country (especially NJ), but if you stage a protest here, they don't run you over with a tank.

I'm sure you have; you would be in a great position to see the majority of them.

I bow to your superior clearly superior intellect; the sagacity of your argument is overwhelming.

If you are Han(90% of people in China are of this ethnic group), and you live in an urban center in China, the one child policy applies to you. You WILL face fines, and depending on locality and the strictness of enforcement in a given area you may be subject to forced abortion or even sterilization. They also use eugenics to "improve the quality of the Chinese population" by selectively barring those who they deem inferior from marrying or having children.

Protest and they'll run you over with a tank. Have an unauthorized child and they will force you to abort it. Want a gun? LOL!

I know people in BeiJing that have more then one child, they have two actually. Nobody forcibly aborted anything. More propaganda from the peanut gallery. And yes they do have to pay but the reality is it's not enough to cause my friends any real hardship.

I didn't say that the Chinese system is perfect I said that the average Chinese on the street is freer then we are. If you don't believe me go there. Both my wife and I where shocked at this. Just take a trip down town in any major city in America and count the number of times you see a police car. Then take a trip to BeiJing and count the number of times you see police. Then what I am saying will be clear to you.

Very interesting that you used the term eugenics. This was an American program. It was the forced sterilization of "undesirables." It was in effect in America for decades. Here is a paragraph from the Wikipedia page on eugenics:
Some states sterilized "imbeciles" for much of the 20th century. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the 1927 Buck v. Bell case that the state of Virginia could sterilize those it thought unfit. The most significant era of eugenic sterilization was between 1907 and 1963, when over 64,000 individuals were forcibly sterilized under eugenic legislation in the United States.[37] A favorable report on the results of sterilization in California, the state with the most sterilizations by far, was published in book form by the biologist Paul Popenoe and was widely cited by the Nazi government as evidence that wide-reaching sterilization programs were feasible and humane. When Nazi administrators went on trial for war crimes in Nuremberg after World War II, they justified the mass sterilizations (over 450,000 in less than a decade) by citing the United States as their inspiration.

So I wouldn't get to high and mighty about eugenics. It was going on here in our lifetimes.

You know there is a reason for the term "Ugly American."

I could go on and on about the crap that is put forth by the uneducated masses but I fear it would fall on deaf ears. But I would really like it if someone actually educated themselves so they can make better choices. But you know the majority of Americans don't even vote. This is a disgrace!! And I bet that the people that tick me off here don't vote.

I love this country. I love the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. And all the things this country is supposed to stand for. But I see so little of it in the common American. They don't even vote and they want protectionist policies! That has to be the height of laziness. This country would have failed long ago if it wasn't for a constant stream of immigrants.

I always knew I would be responsible for starting THR's China debate thread.
