Social media gun arguments

Suburban soccer moms are not the ones fueling gun control efforts. They are merely useful idiots allowing themselves to be used because like most people they think with their emotions instead of their brains.
I partially agree with this. That is why I deliberately used the word "fueling" to describe the role of the soccer moms. In other words, they're the foot troops of the gun control movement (the "fuel"), and not the ones who call the shots.
What is laughable is the assertion that the left is not behind the gun control movement. Look at the states with the strictest gun control laws and the states with the least restrictive and then see who runs those places.
We have to define what we mean by "the left." I'm old enough to still think of the left as the economic left. The classic Marxists didn't shy away from guns. (In fact Marx himself wrote that "under no circumstances should the workers allow themselves to be disarmed.") Today, there is a confusion. The "cultural left" is being lumped in with the economic left. I believe that this is a mistake.

In any case, the leadership of the antigun movement -- people like Michael Bloomberg -- are anything but leftists. Authoritarians and elitists, yes, but communists, no.

Marx might have written that, but name one Socialist/ Communist State that allowed it's subjects to be armed. (Is that what they are talking about when you confront the apologists for such on the abject failures of every attempt to institute such policies and they claim "that wasn't real Socialism/ Communism?"

I can't see that there is any difference; they pretty much seem to go together.

I'll definitely give you that gun control is very much a Statist, authoritarian policy.

Not all leftists are Communists

Aaaand here we are, arguing the nuances of socialist regimes and the role of soccer moms in the grand scheme of things. The OP related to whether or not we argue on social media, not what the arguments were. Further responses relating to whether or not you engage in 2A arguments on social media are welcome. Political tribalism and definitions will bring down the curtain.

i do not argue on the internet at all, over anything. i got involved in some discussions back in the early days and found that you can show someone absolute, undeniable evidence and it would not convince them if they did not want to believe.

I typically go out of my way to not argue with anyone, online or in person. I've learned that in most cases, folks are just as hard headed as I am...so they're just as convinced of their opinion as I am of mine. If someone wishes to know my thoughts or feelings, I'll oblige them. I'll explain how I've arrived at the conclusions I've reached and I will listen as they do the same. I will not waste time telling them how right I am or how wrong they are.
