FWIW, it isnt a 30-30, it's a 92 action (rossi at that, zero historical or collector value), so it's a pistol caliber.
A suppresor doesn't have to make a gun totally silent to be useful. If it takes the muzzle blast out of the picture, it's well worth it's trouble regarding size in my estimation. I wouldn't care about the bullets sonic crack, it isnt right by my ears. If there weren't so much intrusive paperwork to have them, I'd have several.
Unfortunately, they aren't legal to hunt with where I am either. I agree that the federal restrictions should be dropped, and they should be legal to hunt with. We have mufflers on cars, no reason we shouldn't on guns.
