A couple of years ago I bought a P229 in 357SIG sight unseen on a whim, as it was factory reconditioned at a great price. As much as I wanted to like it I just couldn't get comfortable with the grip and the trigger pull was heavier and grittier than I wanted. I listed it on Armslist about a year ago, but with 40's for sale at low prices and not much of a demand for 357SIGS, I would have had to drop the price lower than I was willing to in order to sell it. I replaced the factory trigger with a reduced reach trigger, but that didn't help much and it became a safe queen. About 6 months ago I was at a LGS where they had one with the E2 grip. It felt fantastic and a few days later I had swapped the grip on mine. A trigger job from the owner of that LGS, who's also a gun smith, turned the trigger from gritty and heavy to incredibly smooth. I own of have owned a number of 357SIGs/40's (Glock 23 and 27, FNS 40, XD 40 compact, XDM 40 and a P320) and it tames the recoil better than any of them. It has never malfunctioned in any way and is accurate. I was at my gun club Saturday with it and every time I shoot it now am thankful it didn't sell.

I will give a gun at least two years of shooting before breaking up with it. sometimes my mood changes sometimes it takes awhile to learn a gun, either way I’m too poor to keep buying new stuff so that forces me to adapt to what I own.

I had a P226 when they first came out and while I liked certain aspects of the gun I wasn't thrilled with the trigger or the overall shape of the grips. Tried my brother's P228 and it was somewhat better but I still was not comfortable with the trigger or the grips. Fast forward a bit and I'm at the local gun shop looking for a 9mm. for home defense. An old buddy of mine was working there and he showed me a like new P229R with the E2 grips and the Short Reset Trigger. It also came with night sights and three extra magazines and was priced way below what I would pay for one brand new. As soon as I handled it I knew that this was the SIG I had been looking for all these years! Bought a SIG STL-900L laser/light module for it and it currently is my main home defense handgun.

As for the original .357 Sig 229s, a guy on Armslist TN has had no luck selling his.

Over two months ago it was listed at $800 (in the Memphis area) and the seller doesn't seem to understand the market.
The gun is still avail. for $800.

I paid $628 for mine and it was factory reconditioned from Sig with a lifetime warranty. I suppose he could find a buyer at $800, but it would be an uneducated one.

Great story! There is a 229 in .40 listed at the local range bulletin board for $600 with a reported 300 round through it.. The paper has been there about 3 weeks now. I picked up a 229 Enhanced Elite for $700 a bit back. The E2 grips and SRT make this a nice shooter for my smallish hands.

Reverse story for me. I twice tried to sell a CZ pcr and eventually traded it + cash for a Sig p229 scorpion elite. I had a fair bit of capital invested in the pcr with all the mags and accessories but no one wanted to buy the package unless I took a large loss so it went up for sale twice until I packed it back away for a year and recently decided to put it up for trade instead. I don't have much trigger time with the Sig but I can't imagine owning one without the SRT and am pretty pleased with the switch so far.
