I look at a 12 on 1 situation as either a frightening experience, or a life and death struggle. If there is any way out of the situation, without force exerted by either party, then that seems to me the road.
If on the other hand physical force is applied by any of the 12, it becomes a lethal life and death encounter. The choice is then surrender and hope I will not be killed, or seriously maimed, or pull out my pistol and 'die with my boots on'
