I'm out. nfortunately I'll be some 400+ miles north of there bird hunting along the Canadian border. Maybe next time.

As another bit of interest to us Maine folks...

I don't personally know this person but a few shooters at a recent club shoot know him I guess and pased a flyer about an upcoming shoot being held to help him out. go to www.EricsHope.com for the scoop

Eric's Big Bang! Rifle pistol and machine gun shoot (using World War II machine guns). Cost: $5–$30. Age limit: 16 and under accompanied by adult. Time: 9-3pm at the Kennebunk Fish & Game Club. On the Branch road. For more info, call Jon at (207) 415-6115. Examples: M-1 Carbine, Sten submachine gun, AK-47 & other military rifles and pistols.

I know some of you guys from MA don't get full auto often if at all so here's a chance to do it and halp a guy out.

Well, now I may be able to ake it. Pushed my hunting trip up a week so so long as the wife can get that day off...

Fantastic! Can I get a positive head count?

Exposure, I'm sure subguns and tannerite will be fine. :)

Let's meet at 10AM saturday Oct 7th at the hannaford's parking lot- Toward the road and away from the store so we can find each other.

I figure we'll have fun shooting till midafternoon or so, and then head up for burgers and beers and such, then I'll kick everyone out in time to put the kids to bed. :)

So far, we have:
Exposure
BlkHawk73 (maybe)
Jrob24

I can't say I'm 100% yet. Depends on if the wife is able to get that day off. Hopefully will know sooner rather than later.

So, uh, what town in Maine? I assume that there is more than one Hannafords up there.

edit: Ah, never mind. I'm working every weekend in Oct. Anyone off during the week?

Oh no gezzer! Post # 19! :(

Just for my own personal education, do you have to plan out routes or destinations for class III guns? I've never heard of that before- learn something every day I guess. :)

gezzer-

I think you still have time to do it. The new NFA people in West Virginia are super fast. Some guys are reporting form 4 times as short as 9 days!

You could give them a call and see if they could expedite the approval for you.

(304) 616-4500

They are very professional and helpful, maybe you could work something out.

Alternate site in case of rain

If the weather is bad I think we should have an alternate site, such as the indoor Firing line in Manchester.

So are we a definite go for this weekend?

My Tannerite is dead. :( I tried two bottles last weekend and both failed to detonate. I sent an e-mail to Tannerite.com and they said my stuff has exceeded its shelf life. They are sending replacements (now that's customer service!) but they won't be here in time. My subgun is good to go however! Sadly I only have one 12 round mag so trigger time will be, ummmm, short! But hey, loading mags builds character.

Hope all is still cool for this weekend.

We are on like Donkey Kong!

The only change in plans is that due to lots of stuff going on at home I won't be able to host a BBQ there. :( But we are good to go for shooting at the pit, and there are a few places to eat around town if anyone wants to go out for a bite afterward. :)

So the plan is to meet at the Hannaford parking lot in Standish on Rt 25 between 10AM and 10:25. We will depart for the gravel pit at 10:30. I'll be in a greenish Mazda B3000 pickup (looks like a ford ranger). I'll park near the road side of the parking lot, away from the other cars at the store.

I've left a message with the sherrif's dept that we will be making a ton of noise at the pit :D and they are welcome to join if they want to.

Hannafords info:

Hannaford Supermarket and Pharmacy
111 Ossipee Trail
Standish, ME 04084

From rt 95, north or south, take a rt 25 exit and go west. You will go through Westbrook, Gorham, then Standish. The hannafords is right after you get into Standish, on the left, at the first stoplight.

Those coming from the west better mapquest it due to all the secondary roads ;)

the actual gravel pit is west of the hannafords- leaving the parking lot, go left (West on 25) to the light at the intersection of rt 35 (about .25 mile)

Go straightish through this intersection, onto Oak Hill Road (Don't follow rt 25 which bears left).

Follow Oak Hill rd a bit over two miles until Middle road on the left (dirt road). Turn onto middle road. Follow Middle Road for .75 mile or so until you come to an intersection- take a Right through the gates and there is the pit- drive down till you see the cars. :) Low ground clearance cars might have trouble with middle road so don't go there in your porsche or viper!

My cell is 781.640.3778 if anyone needs it. See you guys tomorrow! :D

Also, if anyone has a clay pidgeon thrower/launcher, it would be great to have there. :)

Sooooo..........

Anyone else ready for tomorrow? :D

jamz-

I have a two handed pidgeon thrower I will bring with me. Sadly I have absolutely NO targets of any sort to bring with me.

I am going to stop on the way and buy a few hundred rounds of .45 to feed the Reising.

I will be driving an 05 GMC Extended Cab Z71 that is dark gray. And I go by P.J.

See you tomorrow!

Well that was fun! Thanks to all for coming and bringing such great toys. :)

Fanof357, I picked up your spinners and have them in my truck- we'll see if we can hook up later and I can give them back. :)

I'd have liked to have made it but other committments over ruled. Glad that it was a success and you had a great time. Had I known about the Reising...plans may have changed.

Yup, that was a good time for sure! It was cool to meet you all.

jamz-

were your final shots on my SKS all over the place? The scope mount was loose as heck, again! I have to loctite those screws in there I guess.

I made it back here at 4:30 and just finished cleaning the three rifles that got the corrosive stuff today. Tomorrow I'll get to the rest, I'm just to dang tired to do it tonight.

Thanks for putting this on jamz!

Everyone was polite and generous. Thanks guys for sharing!
We did some trap shooting using clay disks and apples. The Browning 1100 was very nice! :) I discovered that the recoil from a mosin was not nearly as bad as some internet people claimed. The scoped sks was a fun gun and minute of apple accurate:evil:

Thanks all for bringing the great toys, especially exposure for the reising, garand, and mauser- all guns I have never shot before. I had a great time, sorry I had to bug out a bit early! Oh well. I'll be going back there later this weekend to collect the server and target remians (I am now realizing as I type this that I forgot my "target stand" and sawhorse. Oh well. Glad the weather cooperated today! :)

And a good time was had by all...

Jamz, thanks for putting this together... and for collecting my spinners for me. It just wouldn't be me if I left somewhere without forgetting something:eek:

I guess we will just have to all go shooting together again sometime:D

Hey fanof357-

Did you order up your M1A yet? :D

If you guys can believe it my Garand was still warm to the touch when I got home, 3 hours later! I guess she digested a fair amount of ammo yesterday!

Everywhere I go the "sniper" SKS and Garand are always the favorites for all shooters involved. I know I sure do like 'em!
